So, I am thinking of a Challenger for a DD. Either a Scat or SRT. I know the SRT has better brakes, headlights, interior, wheels. Any other notable differences? Also should I get an A8 or M6? Already have a built GT500 so do not have any itches to scratch, will just be a cruiser and occasional DD. What should I get?

Also, the guys on Challengertalk are hilarious. They are dropping $5-10k on H/C/I/LT for 85whp. Just went through long thread of guy that went through all this then blew a piston then rebuilt it then could not get tune to work so had to sell it. Modding these is a total waste of time IMO.

bought a left over 17 srt Challenger last June, I absolutely love it! I

Nice. Do you think you could fit a mountain bike in trunk with seats down?

what years are you looking at?

15-18

Biggest bang for the buck right now would be a low mileage 2016 Hellcat.

For sure although I have a 900whp shelby so not sure hellcat would do much for me. I guess if the delta in prices was small enough I should not rule them out.

How much are you wanting to **** with it?

If you’re one of the few that can buy a daily and not have it end up full race car, a 392 would work.

However, chasing NA power nowadays is a joke, especially in those cars, they’re pretty rung out from factory.

And can’t throw any reasonable amount of boost safely, or you’ll be buying a motor.

Considering they regularly hit 11s with just a tire swap then that should be enough for most guys street action. They sound bitchin cammed though.

Noted. I think I can resist modding but my flesh is weak. Agreed it would be a waste of time to do anything to a 392.

Lol’d at my flesh is weak.

You....you’re coming around.

Some lowering springs (Mopar Perf makes a good set, or some KW coilovers) and wheels and ride out, imo. They’re SUPER nice inside.

Id go with an SRT-8 Jeep in a heartbeat for a DD if I had to deal with snow. I think you'd love it as a DD up there in Mini-hota dontchya know.

There was a dude in San Diego with a 1st gen Jeep SRT-8 and had a big ass Procharger on it. His license plate said "GTR LOL" or some such. And he did that on the regular :D

I would have to put snow tires on it if I drove it year round. I can only imagine what 20x285 blizzaks will cost me.

If that's the case, I'll switch my answer to the Jeep SRT 8. Gotta have at least awd for winter driving.

This is where I have to get upset with FCA. While they continue to put out some cool products and cater to their chosen audience, it feels hollow in many ways. A Demon is amazing, but $90k, a Redeye is cool and all, the Hellephant seems unreal.. and I've yet to see it listed for sale.... but... cars like the T/A, 1320 Spec, R/T and SCAT Pack all fall short. They fall short because while Ford and GM continue to beef up the internals of their engines, FCA has done NOTHING.

A Hemi 5.7, which is a damn good amount of displacement has a cast crank and guts made from harden wood chips. The 6.4 is impressive in stock form, but is basically maxed out. It's piston ring lands are to weak to realistically be boosted.

Then you have price, a nicely equipped SCAT Pak is in the 50's... and thats riding a 20 year old 4,000lb chassis, with an engine that is maxed out short of 500hp.

So yeah, really, anything short of a Hellcat, they are only good for a cruiser or commuter, and even though that's 90% of what I do, just knowing that, is very frustrating.

Picking up a cheap GT and let Danny drop a Kenne Bell with a safe 91 tune, might be ahead of the game.

Wood chips LOL. The flip side of this is that if you are going to build, you can get 5.7s for next to nothing and have a really good baseline to work with. There is a Hot Rod article floating where they bought a 5.7 longblock out if a truck for $1200, put another $2000 into headwork and internals and had a solid 550hp motor. Point taken though, I built a subaru 2.5 - I hear ringland issues and shudder.

Not a bad idea but not the direction I would want to go.
