I bought a 19 Ram Limited and it's easily the nicest well built vehicle I've ever owned. I've had 2 of the current gen F150's, both were Lariat's and it's not even a close comparison. The Ford wins acceleration, towing and fuel economy, but the Ram wins everything else easy.
What kind of fuel economy are you seeing? I mostly highway commute with some traffic from time to time

I don’t have the etorque and have the 3.21 gears and 4wd and I see 17mpg on the low side and 18.5mpg on the high side. This is hand calculated. I did drive an etorque Ram with 3.92 gears for a weekend and it got 19mpg.

For comparison my 2.7 2wd F150 got around 23mpg and my 3.5 4wd F150 got around 20mpg but this was by the readout in the dash.

Thanks, really helpful info. I look forward to test driving the ram.

Ive got no dog in this debate, but if there were no rebates on the Ram, what would it really sell like it is compared to F-series?

Is the MSRP of the Ram artificially high so they can "offer" rebates to get traffic through the door?

I know that my dealer group's Dodge/Ram/Jeep/Chrysler store was BUSY when we took my girlfriends dad to get his Jeep Compass. Chargers, Challengers, Rams and Jeeps getting sold left and right.

My '14 Ram was my first full sized truck and back in '14 it was far away better than the F150 I drove. Laramie with air suspension, the new ZF based 8-spd and rear coils made it the best riding by far.
Now again in the market and I drove a '19 Ram E-torque deal and again it's a sweet truck with killer interior.
Still want to drive the F150 but if I'm only leasing I'm liking the Ram at this point.

I put 300,000 miles on a RAM 1500 Quad Cab before the engine gave up. The only reason for the failure was a $.50 part. The lower radiator hose popped off. That roasted the engine and turned the cams rainbow colored.

If I could afford to put a Ford and a GMC / Chevy through the same paces I would.

My Ram Pulled my race trailer. It hauled a 650 John Deere tractor, many boats, and a ton of regular duty work on a daily basis.

I'm a V8 fan boy though. I have a thing for a Hemi.

Almost every single Ram owner I know says “I wanted a Ford but there were these huge rebates on the Ram........”

Almost. Every. Single. One.

I’m a ford fanboy and yet I find the Ram appealing. Ford has great rebates too currently so don’t be fooled by that. I think ram has just made great strides in the market in the past few years and people are seeing them as a viable option.

For reference I said it’s a 5-6k difference in price between equivalent trucks which isn’t much but is enough for me as a buyer to consider trying a different route then I normally would.

Also you still haven’t answered my last question, is ram really cheap and what inside do you base that off of?

I’m in the same bot as I will test drive the limited ram vs the platinum f150 and ultimately I’ll go home with which ever I like best. The savings with the ram are just a nice perk.

Exactly my plan. I'm a Ford guy at heart but to be honest, I'm more of a Mustang fan. For my daily I drive whatever I feel is best for me. Currently that is a Hellcat Charger, but I miss shifting, so I'll change the Charger into a truck for winter, towing, shit weather and have either a GT350 or really nice Terminator.
So at this point I'm planning what you are--drive both similarly equipped F150 vs Ram and ultimately pick whichever I feel best for me. I'm now also very comfortable with FCA infotainment based on wife's Pacifica. I've never been a fan of FCA products but we've had great luck the last 4-5yrs

I honestly don’t think the Ram is really cheap. It’s a good truck and I’m sure I’d be happy with one. IMHO, Ford makes better trucks and the difference becomes more apparent when they’re worked hard over long periods of time.

Take a look at 5-10 year old work trucks that have been used hard and put away wet. For some reason it seems the Fords have more life in them when compared to the other manufacturers.

Long term I happen to be a Toyota Tundra fan, they just get garbage MPG and I have a 100 mile commute round trip.

I still won’t be surprised if I find myself back in an F150, the last one I had was stellar.

Ram Trucks are awesome, but prepare for recall city!! lol
I think I have 4 or 5 recalls on my '16 Ram Sport 4X4, rcsb. It's a killer looking truck, inside and out and the infotainment system is still one of the best and most user-friendly out there. Got plenty of power too.

Someone made a point about the F150 being able to be uncorked and modded. I agree with this. Too bad you couldn't do this to the Ram trucks as well. (Well you could, but why play Russian Roulette with your truck's engine? lol)

In fairness I likely won’t mod anything I get. I’ll also likely get an extended warranty for 100k power train. I make good money but we just had our first kid, built a home, got married, and bought my wife a car this year. It’s important I don’t open myself up to risk of voiding a warranty when I can’t comfortably drop the cash to replace what ever if need be.

I kinda have half a mind to just go scoop up a loaded XLT F150 and save myself about 14k, but after having a platinum once it’s hard to go backwards.

Not surprising. A vast majority of work trucks and truck fleets seem to be Ford F-series. I still see a ton of 1st gen Super Duty's on the road with various engines and configurations. Ford engineers should be proud, that 1st gen Super Duty platform was solidly engineered.

I had zero reservations about buying a low mile (relative to average miles) 17 year old Excursion. If you take care of them, they will keep going and going.

My dad bought a 2002 F-150 with 180k on the clock. Its now got 220,000 miles and aside from needing coils, plugs and and intake manifold, its been trouble free. Id imagine that F-150 through the current model year will be similar.

You dont **** with your bread and butter products.

You guys thinking of a new truck.. Also if you guys like to keep your trucks.... Then you might want to wait a while before you pull the trigger. In the next 2-3 years Fords going to go APE **** in the truck and SUV market. They're dropping pretty much every US car model minus the mustang and 1 off performance cars. So from a friendly insider in the Ford Engineering division, they're working on some crazy stuff at this time. Some pretty interesting powerful and efficient things coming from the blue oval camp in the near future.
