Unfortunately zero sense is required when people post items to the market place. More often than not will people neglect the most important parts of the item needing photos.

I deleted my Facebook account in 2015 and do not miss it one damn bit. It got creepy when everyone I'd walk by would suddenly show up in "people you may know." GPS location is all I can think of.

It sucks because lots of forum classifieds moved to FB, but I refuse to rejoin on the matter of principle.

Also, screw Mark Zuckerberg

I'm a 1%'er, meaning I'm not on Facebook. I do use my wife's profile to view the 03-04 cobra parts market thou.

Social media sucks, not so much the internet. SVT Performance and the not so normal forum moderators kick ass. That is about as close as I will get to social media with posting my own words is a forum like this. I could give two sh!ts less about what someone is watching on TV on Tuesday night or how they feel about the ending of This Is Us.

probably a good idea. Most of the time it's all about dumb asses, posting dumb ass things. For example, why oprah would "be a good president". Or why people should turn in their guns at the next local gun grabber event. Sometimes I get so outraged I can feel my heart pounding outside of my chest ......

Can anyone name one BENEFIT from facebook?

Aside from advertisement (usually does more harm than good)

If used for what it was originally intended for,
The wife has family overseas. Very easy to share pics and see what is going on.
Instead of chain/group emails, downloads, etc...
They post pics/story and all family can easily check it out, save pics, etc....

Based on OP's message, here comes the circle jerks of those trying to brag about not using facebook...

Another non Facebook user here. I've never gotten into social media of any kind. Just don't see the appeal.

...and I called it. Guess what, forums are just as much social media.

Easily. Well first off, I've pocketed about 4-6K worth of prizes, all via FB. I'm still a little salty about the trip to Yosemite I had stolen from me because the "sponsor" didn't like the results of the contest and allowed per the fine print, scrapped the whole contest which I won, and just picked their own winner. I'm much more salty about being in the finalists, 1 in 10, to win a fully paid trip to Switzerland and not getting it. That still hurts. SO CLOSE! It's ok Swiss Airlines, I still love ya! BTW, if you want to enter to win a trip to Jordan, here's my referral link: http://vy.tc/eZOAS10

Second... can anyone here help me remove my engine tomorrow night? Ahhh, that's right. This forum covers probably a handful of countries. Maybe a couple members are close, but unless I see their city mentioned in their profile, I wouldn't know. Now, a local mustang facebook group for my city, I can ask the same question, and perhaps get a hand. Hell, I went and helped some dude yank the engine from his Mach 1. Never met the dude before, but we've since ran into each other at a couple shows and cruise ins. Someone was asking to buy an engine hoist last week. I said he, a complete stranger, could borrow mine. He said no as he wouldn't feel right. I told him I won't need it anytime soon, so I didn't care it he had it 2 months. He thanked me but insisted he would probably need one again later, so he would just buy one.

Third, lets go big. Some 14 months ago a FB ad mentioned countries that offer dual citizenship... "12 Countries with Birthright Citizenship If you’ve ever dreamed of living in your ancestral homeland, the path to dual citizenship might be easier than you expect." Bored, I clicked it. Germany...no, I don't qualify. Italy...wait a second. "Italian citizenship is passed on from parent to child without limitation of generation. You only need to produce evidence that everyone in your direct line of ascendants has maintained their Italian citizenship without interruption since 1861." What does all that mean? Some googling, and the "catch" if you will is an Italian immigrant having a kid elsewhere, before they themselves become citizens of that country. That kid is a citizen of the US, but legally also still an Italian citizen. I had seen a family tree years back but come to find out my uncle uploaded it all on familysearch dot com. Ok, ol' Giuseppe was born in 1882 in Italy. Quick search said to head to ancestry dot com and look up records. Within a few hours I had ship records into Ellis Island showing he came over in 1908 with his wife and that my great grandpa was born in 1910. Looking for naturalization info, I found pretty certain proof he (Giuseppe) naturalized in 1932. That's it, I met the biggest catch. 4 hours after clicking a legit ad on FB, I was fairly certain I was legally Italian. WTF! Ok, now what? Several blogs and reddit posts said to join a specific FB group for just this subject, US/Italian dual citizenship. Like anything new, you learn, you read, you ask questions, and it starts to make sense. That group has it all from countless people who had done the process themselves, folks that are working on it, and fair prices help too. There's countless "service providers" who will help and even do all the paperwork for a several grand, maybe 4-5K. Less than 1 grand over 11 months and I was ready for my citizenship appointment at my Italian consulate with about 56 forms in hand....

Where did I get 130 year old birth and marriage records? Via FB I paid some dude in Italy to get them for me. Who translated all my US docs into Italian? Some dude on FB who lives in Italy. The processing time right now is about 8-10 months, so another 8 or so, and I should get an email saying I'm in, and allowing me to come pick up a passport.

So... facebook is a tool. It's all in how you use it. If you can't find anything but family drama and worthless statue updates from people you don't care about, then it's you who are the problem. You haven't found a good use for a simple tool.

edit: Yes though, their market place does suck. Easily the biggest issue is lack of sorting the items by nearest or newest.

Haven’t been on Facebook since 2011. Or any social media actually. This forum, (a few others) and Craigslist still works for me.

It's frustrating because CL has taken a dump here for mustang parts. I genuinely struggle to find stuff.

I don't use FB for much more than car stuff. I'm on sloppy mechanics which is hilarious. I follow PubG and other games pages. I upload progress pictures of the coupe and then the occasional photos of Katie and I. We both have family that we don't see frequently due to location. I also have quite a few car friends that live elsewhere so we tend to keep up over FB messenger.

It sucks that I have to use it but in a lot of ways i'm happy to have it to share my life with folks that earnestly want to see/share theirs with me.

Do tell. I'm all in if I can do this too. :D

This sort of thing this is actually how I met one of my closest friends. Way back in the day on the Camaro forum, some stranger offered to help me to my header install on my old LT1 Camaro. Went to his house to do it & it ended up taking the weekend so I slept on his couch. Almost 20 years later and he's still one of my best friends.
