Anyone else frustrated with Ford over the next GT500?

"...additionally, the GT500’s powertrain selector will allegedly omit Track and Snow/Wet mode in favor of bespoke Drag Strip setting and Launch Control functions."

That's not good news to me. I'm still going to hold onto hope that it'll still have track prowess and not be just another boulevard cruiser. If it comes with a torque converter automatic, I'm out.

I know its personal preference, but I would love to have an auto GT500 with a slap shifter and paddles. I have raced cars with both. While rowing threw the gears is a blast... autos are much faster.

One of my previous cars (s197)... I had a TR3650, TR6060, and a 5R55s in it. With zero mods occurring at the time of the trans swap, just pulling the TR6060 and installing the 5R55s, I went from a 12.9 to a 12.4. And after doing a rear gear swap, tuning the car better and getting some seat time, I was able to run a 12.1. That was with an NA car that weighed in at 3980 with me in it and 400/365 RWHP/TQ. I can't imagine near double the power at the same weight. It would be insane!

Also, traffic around here is nuts... like 3rd worst in the nation. Since I put 8k-10k miles a year on each of my cars, it would make the commute a lot easier.

No one will be upset about this car lol

Some people are trying really hard to hate this car and its not even out yet. Not sure if its product affinity issue or if some people just like to argue.

ceramic pads = carbon ceramic brakes? oooooook

I thought the same thing. Then I read the documents in the article, and one mentions that the pads don't have the metal wear indicators on them. That's still not much to go on, but those tabs would destroy a carbon ceramic rotor, if they made enough contact. That could be interpreted to mean the car might have carbon ceramic rotors. It's quite a reach, but still plausible.

My guess is ceramic fronts and those nice GT350 style aluminum hat rears?
Or full carbon ceramics all around as an option?

Exactly what I was thinking.

Gonna be fun to select shift points. So are we talking 10 speed auto or DCT? Or maybe optional? Gonna be a fast bxxxx
I have a hard time believing no track mode selection. This car wouldn’t need magnaride or huge brakes just to drive on the street or strip.

I hope there is an optional auto. It would be awesome for people to have a choice without spending a fortune and voiding their warranty.

Don't get me wrong... Love my GT350. It is by far my favorite car to drive. It is very possible that its my favorite car I have ever owned. I just can't help but wonder what it would be like in an auto. It's possible that if I had an auto, even if its quicker, I may not enjoy it as much. But I would love to be afforded the luxury of knowing.

And honestly, its not going to be a deal-breaker either way. Either I'm going to love the car and be able to afford it, I'll hate it and won't get it or I won't be able to afford it. If it's a stick or auto, its not going to play into the purchase decision.

As I have gotten a little older I see the appeal of an auto, if it's a capable one. I still have my manual mustangs and they are a blast, but a good auto would be a nice departure from the norm. Sometimes I want to kick back and mash the pedal and let it do its thing.
