Hey all,

Has anyone purchased a high-end vintage mt bike they lusted after years ago?...

I realize the performance is not going to be there in comparison to modern bikes, but i'd imagine it would be like christmas every time I see/ride it...

wow... those bikes bring back some good memories. Still kick myself for not buying a DeKerf before they went out of business

Mt Bike? No
But I was into BMX bikes when I was a kid. Had a beautiful GT Mach 1 team model with all kids of goodies (3 piece cranks, titanium handlebars and seat stem, lightweight aluminum wheels and spokes... etc).
Then....someone stole it.

I always wanted a 2 piece Auburn frame though from the early 90s.
This is the exact frame I've always lusted after.

Wow, I wasn't too into bmx, but that Auburn is stunning! Never heard of a two-piece bmx frame.

A friend & his father I knew in the mid-90s had connections w/ Robinson bmx, they would always have some of the best stuff available:

He would also toss it around rocky mtb trails as if he was flat-tracking a harley, hopefully he went into some type of bike racing...

Ktm. Cool! I've really thought about a new ktm 300xc I love 2 strokes and the reviews on those are great. I've taken my RM250 on some slow single track trails that's all around me but it doesn't like to be lugged around. I put on a gnarly pipe 8 oz flywheel weight and it helped bring some power in lower but It's way more of a MX bike than enduro.

Small world. I had that exact bike, myself. Never met anyone else who had one, or even heard of one, until today.

When I was a kid (mid 80's) Redline BMX bikes were what all the kids in my area lusted after. Not even sure if the company is still around or if they are still considered a "good" brand.

My buddy has the Klein in the second picture. He bought it new and rode it for several years. Still has it. Cool thing about the paint on that bike. They must have painted the colors a layer at a time. Because as his paint would wear off the color would change to the color underneath.

Yeah I had a friend with a nice Redline, he bought the whole bike through BMX Plus!
You BMX guys must be around the same age as me.

What year 250?

New KTM 2 strokes are going FI. And I hear the last couple of years the low end-mid range has been really good.

I had a Redline Triple X for a while. Was a pretty good bike. Think the favorites were the Solid Killing Machine and DK SOB. Went through quite a few different bikes when I was into it though lol. I was mostly into dirt and park riding. Frames, forks, and rims were lucky to last more then a few months lol

Not vintage but below is what I generally ride for down hill / endoro. It's a SC Nomad CC X01. I am generally on my Cannondale Rush now though. SC is lacking in the trails department so XC has been about all I do.

I've had 2. A stock 06 and my Current RM that I'll probably keep forever is a bastardized 98-06. I converted back to 98 Showa conventional forks that are a much better feel in the woods than the 03 inverted that were on there. 04 motor the frame tank and plastics are an 01. Last time out I boiled over riding too slow. I got frustrated with it and decided to make it a garage queen. I'm going to try a Boyeson super cooler and different coolant and see if that helps. The woods trails aren't suited to keeping enough speed to keep it cool. I just removed the plastics to polishing the up. I love the bike though thing rips.
