I remember when the top of the line full xtr bikes were $400 brand. Like the 88 Stumpjumper....

You might be able to get the xtr cranks for $400 now... The bike prices today are insane. I just bought a new one earlier this year to replace a 10 year old bike. Same specs, same model frame (obviously different generations), big price increase.

Haha, awesome thread. Great timing. I still ride my 1998 Schwinn MOAB 1. Fun bike. Paid $1100 for it back in the day. I march into my local bike shop this weekend thinking I could replace with equal quality/weight for a little more cash?? Not so much. Looking at a fricking $3200 bike so I don't have to ride a tank (in comparison to the Schwinn).
