So dig this,
As a musician in south La with a dad who is also a musician and a brother who is one of the best sound engineers in the area you tend to know most other musicians.
I, being out of the industry for several years only know Travis a little. Travis Thibodeaux is a musician/songwriter from Lockport La. At 15 he wrote a song "Take My Hand" which was recorded by Wayne Toups and became a pretty good hit. He and my brother are good friends.
Lately Travis was the drummer/singer in the band Mojeaux which I booked for my daughters wedding.
Last year I knew my favorite band Journey had fired their drummer Deen Castronovo. For those who know Journey Knows that Deen can sing.
My brother calls and says Travis may be going on the road with Journey. I'm figuring as the drummer because of his vocal abilities to replace Deen.
Turns out that the original drummer Steve Smith would be returning so that ended that.
Well, turns out they still needed the vocals so they hired him for the tour as a background vocalist and additional keyboards.
He ends up singing a song just as Deen used to do to give the singer a break.
Here's a local boy on the big stage now.
