IMHO It's a little expensive now that the 2013 kenwood headunits are becoming discontinued/unavailable and the price of new 2013 units continue to drop as the 2014 items are brought to shelves. I'm still happy with the deal as I got in when the price of a new 890hd was still 1200/1400. I may upgrade to the DNX891HD and sell my DNX890HD.

Kenwood Excelon DNX890HD Navigation receiver at Crutchfield.com

Kenwood DNX891HD In-Dash Double DIN 7" LCD Touchscreen DVD/MP3/

I just talked to them they are making packages for all the new units for SVT members, even the Alpine that hasn't released yet. They said we will have the ability to preorder as well. I'll keep you guys posted.

I'm very interested in the Alpine offerings that will be coming. After I see those, I'll decide between the Kenwood and Alpine. I'M READY!!

So, I have read over the whole thread and I am absolutely in love with this set up. I Just want to make sure 100% for sure that you do not need sync for the important things to work in this system. (climate controls, gauges, cool stuff) I have a base as base can get 2013 GT and would love to get the whole system this week if so. Thanks!

You do not need Sync or even steering wheel controls. You will need:

Compatible radio - 2013 Kenwood DNX/DNN navigation receiver, or 2014 Kenwood DNN/DNX or DDX8901HD, DDX7701, or DDX5901HD. Or if you wait for Alpine to release you can get the INE-W957HD or X008U.

ADS-MRR module

MUS01 - Dash kit and installation T-harness.

Cheers,

Mine is a base 2012 GT with a premium wheel. You can find a premium wheel in the classified section. I would suggest getting one. When you program the Maestro RR module the steering wheel functions become usable.
The climate control works through the radio touch screen. Its a very nice setup.

This is not correct, my steering wheel fuctions work perfect. I found out you can not use the plug and play maestro harness that with the kit you have to use the hard wire harness that came with it and then everything works like it should.

How is this not correct? I have mine working fine. Wired to the Maestro RR kit.
I Programed through the Maestro site with my computer. I never had steering wheel controls in my base car. That's why I put the premium steering wheel in. So I could have functions of the radio with my steering wheel.

that was my fault i misread what you wrote sorry about that. You are correct and that's a great option for a base care with no steering wheel controls.

hello everyone. i have a kenwood dnx890 that i hope to get installed soon with the maestro hardware. my 2011 GT has an oem backup camera that outputs to a rearview mirror monitor.

is there a way to hook up the backup camera to the kenwood instead?

Yes, you'll just have to grab your av inputs at the mirror and run that to the kenwood instead. We grab factory cameras all the time and take them from the factory mirror to the screen
