I am looking forward to seeing both of you Sunday. I don't think anyone believes a Boss is a Cobra. Why?

LOL, I meant the first part of that statement, not the last. I dunno if I can make the CP show, but I'm going to try. I have some work to do to get my car cleaned up if I'm gonna make that. Not to mention tuned..although it drives pretty decent now.

I asked the second question because it sounded like you were welcoming him into the club. I've got no qualms with car guys posting in our forum, coming to hang out, etc, but I asked because unless the rules had changed, you had to own a cobra (or have had one at some point) to be an official member. That's all.

I look forward to it. I will be sure to roll in at 100mph, while dodging kids/dogs/old people, with my hids in their full glory, doing donuts with my dukes of hazard horn blowing. Yeehaw?

I always enjoy the great people that show up at MACA meets in really nice high-performance Mustangs, Marauders, and other SVT cars (not Cobras). I think of the ones who who try hard to support our events as members. Even those who sell their Cobras... LOL

I also think you need to have a Cobra to be on the MACA roster.

I dont mind. It is very amusing. I got myself a bucket of popcorn as well. I have never been close to hitting anyone and to comment on my hid's is laughable. When we see nothing wrong lets make mention of something. I see haters. I love them. Make sure to comment on my hids on my focus too. They too are "in their full glory".

Cool man. We all have to grow up someday, hopefully your day comes before you wreck your car or injure an innocent bystander.

There is a minimum post count before you can receive PM's, 10 I believe?

Also, LOL @ this thread...this has gone downhill pretty quickly...:pop:

I hear that Paul

Nah, I'm pretty sure there has always been a minimum post count before you could PM

He meant about what was going on in this thread. In regards to the posts counts, yeah, 5, 10 or something like that before you could send or receive pm's.

Yup, MACA membership when we started it was based on you owning a cobra at the time of joining. Others could come to the gatherings and hang out and stuff, but were not official MACA members. And there were events where it was MACA members only.

GT500's came out and there was much debate about them being cobra's since it wasn't SVT anymore. Alas, they were welcomed in without issue.

That is how Dwight and I originally thought it should go and brought some others in with initial meetings over a few months and everyone agreed and we moved forward and had some wonderful years hanging out, cruising, eating great food, etc.

And it was always said, once a MACA member always a MACA member. So Phantom buying a boss or billy buying his, no problem. But you can't join by owning a boss.

That said, last time I talked to Dwight we didn't discuss this. So he would have to weigh in as well. But if those running it now??? I assume just Ben really is trying to get it all going, if he chooses to change up the requirements, I would hope he showed at least Dwight the respect to discuss it with him and I am usually always in agreement with Dwight about it.

Jason,

Forgive me if this is a stupid question but I missed the debate. Why do you say that my GT500 is not SVT anymore? Did they install fake signed engine plaques? Why all the other misleading SVT badging too? :??:

After you read this full thread, what makes you think I am changing anything?

Ben, no one is saying that GT500s don't belong in MACA. But last I remember is that the SVT plant/department was shutdown but maybe I'm wrong.

A GT with a bodykit and some fancy stickers does not belong in MACA

Yeah I know exactly what he meant. I was being a smart ass. Hence the dancing banana.

And the once in, always in bit was why I mentioned having owned one before...because obviously, I've been without for a while now.

As for MACA only at events...I dunno, we've always had one or two guys that tagged along anyway. Dale, Brian, that fella driving the STI that came to a few events, etc. So there has been precedent as far back as 2007 or earlier where guys without cobra's would come out with us.

And I definitely remember the GT500 debate...pretty sure a good chunk of that took place on the forum here. We could probably dig it up if we wanted. Not to say you guys didn't discuss it further in person, but I definitely remember the discussions here about it when they came out.

Ben...my Focus ST came with an SVT supplement in the owners manual..even though it's a Sport Technologies car, and not SVT. They kind of mix terms now. I think Jason was referring back to what brought up the original debate(years ago), and that was the disbanding of SVT back in 04 after the Terminators run was finished. The GT500 has SVT markings on it, but it's not really the same thing.

The discussion was whether to cap membership of the club to 93-04 SVT cobra's, or to allow the new (at the time) GT500's in. For a whole variety of reasons, it was decided that GT500's should be included. As far as I know, we've never talked about Boss's. They are a limited run vehicle too, but should they qualify for membership? I dunno...if it's something everyone wants to discuss, perhaps we can do that, but my off the cuff reaction would be no.

MACA is cobras and Shelbys...and keep it like that. Anyone can hang out ..the streets are free. So lets just keep doing how we have been for almost 10 years
