Ok, I'll race the truck. Here are my stipulations. truck on slicks vs. the Taurus, and it has to be raining. Well since it was brought back from the dead, thought I'd throw that out there.

Just a re-quote for the one on tech talking about how our reason was BS and we were just scared.
Here's is the quote from tech.

They had their thread going on SVTP. I might possibly be able to dig it up. Guys with 6 second tube cars were backing down from that truck. Talking about they don't want to hurt their motor and can't take that chance....sounds like a line of bull to me. Sounds more like they don't want to get embarrased by a street truck.

Well, It's gonna have to be someone else.

We just had a long discussion about it and it just isn't worth it for him.

Logistics is a bitch with the only tow vehicle being the motor home. (Trailer is huge)
Takes a while to load and unload so getting out quick is not an option.
Motor is fresh with 0 passes on it and the car is for sale.
The car has been launched on the street a few times but never a full pass the way it is set up.
He feels that if it blows the tires when the nitrous hits that on the street it may over rev
Trying to pedal on the street is different than at the track.
He won't chance hurting it.

I have a feeling this will be the case with anyone with a fast enough car to run this thing down. Too much invested in a 100K race car to take a chance on the street.

The truck is a beast for a street vehicle so it will take a serious trap to run it down if you can't launch all out.

Good luck, I hope someone steps up.

BTW, have you ever tried to pedal a TD?

Have you ever even been in a TD?

Probably thinking TD? What the hell is TD?
Well when you figure it out you may understand why we didn't try to pull this off.
Logistics was the worst part.

So the car you were offering up had never made a full pass down the street but you offered it up to race? That doesn't make any sense. Why even offer it up? Lol.

I said in the current set up. Changed the progressive controller and freshened up the motor.

Why? It should have enough trap speed to run them down.

Why again?

It's called, hustle the hustler.

I offered to put up the money for my buddy just to see it happen.

In the end it isn't worth it to take a chance of blowing a 30K+/- motor or going to jail.

It isn't like we could hide 70+ feet of motor home and trailer or load the car fast enough to get out.

I tried to set it up and failed. But to say we were scared is reaching.
The only thing we were scared of is hurting ourselves. lol

Sorry man I'm not really following your logic. All I see is excuses. But what do I know, I'm just a dumb hillbilly from Texas.

Edit:

Since I tend to over explain I'll make it simple.

Of all the things that could go wrong 5K isn't worth taking the chance.

However being scared of or embarrased by the truck is 1 thing we were not really worried about.

If they or anyone sees it as excuses then fine by me.

Thats me... Shouldn't be hard for the truck owners to research me and figure out if they can stay in front of me for the 1/4 mile.
Looks like a mid-high 8 second car.

Fast, but I don't know if I'd be so quick to race this truck for 5k on the street.

In any event, I'm definitely eager to see the results if this pans out.

Mid-high 8 second car? You must have watched the wrong videos. My pile of junk hasn't been an 8 anything. We run 1/8th mile here in Texas. My junk goes 5.90's to the 660'.

So depending on what it picks up on the big end it should be low 9s

The truck from what I hear should be high 8s maybe low 9s depending on what they are spraying.

It will launch on the street like a bat out of hell though.
