I want EVERYONE that told me that I shouldn't got to a TH400 to take a look at those pics! I was getting comments like "What did you break you left leg" "6 speeds are more fun" bla bla bla. Now do you haters understand? LOL

My Magnum seems to work fine at 1000 hp a few times, and 850-900 for awhile now. Though i am going to a 4R70W now due to being frustrated with it from a dig.

LOL!! Yeah I'm old school and want to keep a 6 speed manual in mine. I like using a clutch I guess. However I have found even the so-called Bad-Ass Viper spec stuff is no match for repeated high torque and sticky tires.
If I wanted to "go fast" I would probably stuff a 4R70W into it but honestly having an auto would take away the "driving experience fun" for me.

No doubt the auto in a turbo car is SOOOO much faster!
I wouldn't mind trying one out one day in the future, but then I'd really need to invest in a roll cage, c-clip eliminators, etc. Stuff that I don't want to do to this street car.

Cost was around $25K total.
Wow, you got off easy for a set-up like that! Custom intercooler, custom headers, custom hot and cold side, custom intake, ported heads, serious built 5.4, on and on. I'm shocked. I surpassed that and I don't have as nice of a set-up as you got. I guess working at Fastlanes got you some deep discounts.

LOL
Best thing I ever did.
Seriously.
The built engine. The turbo system. The rear end. All of it. The Th400 was the best mod yet.

I noticed your sig about smoked 3 T56 trans.
I'm on my 3rd this time around.
Did you break them internally (shaft) or something else?

Broke input shafts.

The third input shaft that broke took out the countershaft with it.

I used to be the hardest of the hardcore cheerleaders for keeping a car manually shifted. It used to piss me off when people put autos in their cars. But the power level went up, and I just couldn't keep fixing that stupid ass transmission. Not to mention the wear and tear a clutch that holds that kind of power puts on the rest of the car. I was nervous as hell when I put the Th400 in, and had no idea how it would be. I had no experience driving, or being in another auto/high HP car. Literally, my first drive out of the garage had me smiling for days and wondering why I didn't do it sooner.

Here are a few pics of busted trans parts along the way:

Here is one I caught early because the tranny started whining pretty badly:

Here is another, F'd to oblivion:

And here is the countershaft that the input shaft drives that got taken out:

I understand why you switched! LOL!

If I break this one (on the street), I'm going to pull it out and throw it in the nearest river I can find.................................... :)

I know. I'm just bustin your balls. I would just never put a 3 speed in. I'd spring for the 4 speed. But that's me.

bahhh, there is no need for OD. With the correct gears and tire size OD means jack. Id trade no OD for a stronger, and more reliable trans (TH400) over the 4R70w, especially at those power levels.

Well seeing that I am at my power level on 93 pump on the stock engine and I have bigger plans for next year the th400 was the best option for me. I sold my t56 with low miles for a good bit and went to a trans that will support more power than I plan to make. I made out better selling a good t56 then a broken one.

I was really torn on which one to go with, the power capability of the TH400 or the driveability of the 4R70W. In the end I went with the 4R70W, cause with a 400, third gear on 28" tires and 3.27 gears on the interstate, which I am on for 70 miles if I drive the Cobra to work, would be turning over 3000 rpm at almost 80mph, not even accounting for any converter slip. That's just not something I wanted to deal with in my situation. Hopefully the 4R70W holds up.

This is why I like the 4R also. Mileage and wear and tear on the engine. The 4R's have been proven to hold the power also.
