yes whats normal i set mine on 76 during tha day so when i come in from outside i wont frezze with sweat.
when it's 90 plus outside whan walking into 80 deg even it feels good for awhile.
i need to try mine down cooler maybe at 72 it will be the same ? if so why not have it cold if its going to run the same amount right ?

you're supposed to slightly undersize the unit for the house. You want it to cool off the house while pulling the humidity out. If its too big it'll cool it down quick and shut off and not pull out the humidity.

Get a digital programmable thermostat.

Mine is a 3 ton, 14 sear heat pump, takes that new D"something" freon, cooling & heating 3000sqft. Love it!! Our power bill dropped from $350 month to $200 a month.

Well..Its one degree set? Weird. Most are 4 degree's. Cools the house down 4 degree's from the set point and then shuts off..

you may want to check the position of your thermostat to see if it is in a warm spot in the house. This may cause it to cycle frequently. I put a small floor fan near mine and it keeps it cooler in that spot, but does not affect the overall temp in the house.

UPDATE!

turn down to 74 deg at 2.24 pm, let unit run till 3.17pm about 50 mins , still hadnt kicked off yet, temp in house was only 76 deg still. i think i got a problem?
50 mins to cool off 2 deg is insane, not to mention it didnt even kick off yet.
unit is blowing heat out the top of the fan motor, and line is sweating too.?

76 is the coolest it will get in the heat of the day

Mine runs for a while also to get it down to 74°

Heat should be coming off the outside fan and line should sweat.
It is hot as hell outside right now.

How old is your A/C unit? Mine is...about 4yrs old and I had to have it recharged last summer b/c of a small leak...

IIRC it was 60 or 70 bucks
