What are you talking about? I have the same engine and DME in my M5, I'd argue this is one of the most reliable V8 BMW's produced, a lot less problematic than the M62 of the era. No turbo/direct injection bullshit, no 50,000 mile rod bearing service intervals, the MSS52 DME isn't anything that crazy.

Hell the S62 was being used by teams in endurance racing all the way into 2013 because they were so robust including Dinan and Turner.
