Rarely post anymore but creep threads almost daily.
@ViciousJay was always, ALWAYS, one of those usernames you saw frequently that stood out. Alcohol is so damn problematic to too many. Condolences to all that were close with Jay.
damn, sorry to hear. I too enjoyed his posts. How old was he, mid-late 30s I assume? Also, assume no wife or kids?
Now at 36 and with a 1 year old I don't care to drink much anymore myself but have seen it ruin other lives. Used to hit it pretty good but there are way more important things in life now.
A few years ago a 40 year old cousin of mine walked into a hospital after struggling with alcohol for years. He had custody issues with his daughter's mother and his mom had died the year before and that's when the booze really took hold. His liver was done and his brother was even being prepped to give him a partial liver transplant but then his kidneys and lungs shut down. Another guy I know gave himself pancreatitis by age 25, ended up in the hospital a few times before he quit. He would die within months if he resumed drinking hard.
Anyway, alcohol can be fun until it's not and it's often too late by then for many.
Hi mother just told me today, after his funeral, she was driving home with her sister, while in traffic on the interstate, a car abruptly just cut her off, she had to swerve to avoid a collision. She said the car had a vanity plate which said “IM OK 1” but the owner sharpied or something the 1 and made it look like an arrow pointing up.
