Wife + Cobra = Burnt Clutch

So I've just installed my X-pipe and decide that I want to hear it from the outside as it goes by, so I tell my wife to go around the block a couple of times, OMG, she had the whole neighborhood smelling like my burnt clutch. she pulls up and goes somethings burning, I'm like, thats my clutch, why are you riding it, she says because I'm trying to keep it from poping out so fast, i guest the clutch is a little hard, but the car sounds different not like a muscle car but kind of like an exotic sound, i don't know if I like it.
but the wife says she doesn't like my car so I don't have to worry about her wanting to drive it anymore :thumbsup: i had to take it out on the highway and air it out to get the smell out, hope its okay.

I think you clutch will be fine, I've made my smell in the past...as for the wife comment, mine hates the burble on decel but still insists to drive it. Bummer for me.

Put in a Spec II...a lot less pedal effort...then let the wife have it. Every good wife should have a Cobra to drive.

Actually she's pretty cool about it, she doesn't like taking the car anyway because I'm so anal about it. After this clutch goes I will be replacing it with a Spec II, and then I'll let her try it again, or I could let her drive it now and burn the clutch alot faster and then I could get the Spec II sooner :lol:

that's the same thing i've heard from just about everyone who has put on an xpipe... you lose that rumble and it goes to a more raspy sound. it's normal. a couple shops around town have actually steered me away from going the "X" route. they said the stock "h" isn't holding the car back and it keeps it sounding like a muscle car.

LOL. My wife and I just came from my brother's house. He just put a set of Hooker LT's on his 92 LX. So he fires up this beast and it starts rubling (open headers) Blappity blappity blappity. And my wife says "Why does it make that funny sound?" I tell her "Cause it's got a cam..." Then she says "Ohhhhhh...it needs to be louder!" LOL. Gotta love her. Open headers are still to quiet. Too bad the neighbors don't agree.

My wife can't drive a stick. and she's a lefty. I tried to teach her on my LX but I couldn't take the damage she was doing to it. Told her I would rent a manual Escort to teach her [ it was a while ago] if she wanted but she said no. Too bad. Guess I drive the Cobra. :shrug:

BTW clutch smell is like a smoky burnout. It means you're using it up faster.

My wife can drive a stick but the Snakes Clutch is way stiffer then anything she has ever driven, I think her Lexus ES300 is the most powerful car she has ever driven LOL, she's not into cars but she's learning :thumbsup:

#1 never get married under any circumstance.

#2 never let any woman drive your cobra.

If you follow those 2 important rules you will be all set. Unfortunately for you, you broke them both and now your clutch will pay. :cryying:

That is exactly why I took off my factory X-pipe and installed an H-pipe instead, I just prefer the sound of an H-pipe and get this the X-pipe that was on there was 2.25---WTF:shrug: (Thanks Ford)

It seems okay, I went prowling on the highway last night and the car Gets Down, it really feels strong in the cool night air, I tell you what with 464 to the wheels this car flys I can't imagine what 700 would be like.
