I just purchased an 03 cobra with 44k miles. Mods include: stock eaton with a 2.8 upper and a 4lb lower tuned with full headers ect.. I have the dyno sheet and the car made 485rwhp! super fun to drive.. My question is why can I barely here the supercharger. I have owned several cobras and Im disappointed this one is so quite !!!! I have some eatons around he garage thought about swapping it out.. PLease any info would be appreciated

Before you consider swapping eatons I'd double check and see if yours is ported, especially since you have a lower. Do you have the hood blanket on yet? Stock hood vents? Some cut the flaps off.

If it was ported, wouldn't it be even louder then a regular pullied eaton? As in a more noticeable whine.

^+1 my Ported eaton whines like a bitch. Does it pull good all the time? Maybe you have a boost bypass valve issue?

the hood blanket is not making THAT much difference.

how much boost are you seeing, maybe youre getting massive belt slip now? What intake/filter setup are you using?

ported is definitely louder by far. Mine was relatively quiet compared to my exhaust until i had it ported then you will hear it scream.

Yes it is, mine was night and day with it off.

Mine wasn't that big if a difference. As a matter of fact I didn't even know it was supposed to make the blower louder when I took it off. I only took it off because it got damaged when an idler pulley let go on me and it ripped the belt and tore the hood liner. Later I read on here that its supposed to make it louder.

My car is the same way I just added a 2.76 pulley but my exhaust is way to loud to hear the whine until I roll the windows up & have the top on since mine is a vert. Is yours a convertible?from the looks of your picture it looks like it is. If it is you'll barely hear the whine until you port it.

The type of intake will change the amplitude of the whine. And loud exhaust makes it much harder to hear. My old car had a catted prochamber and a Mac 2.5" cat back and the whine was much more audible than my current setup w/ bassani catted x and borla stingers.

I thought the same about my car. I have just put it to having a loud exhaust (kooks long tubes, o/r X). I can hardly hear the whine :nonono: but everything is fine with the supercharger because it made good power on the dyno lately. It looks like you made decent power for your set-up so something can't be wrong with the supercharger. Just other factors are not allowing you to hear it as loud as you think it should be. And last every supercharger and set up is different. Best of luck with your new Cobra :rolling:

I have just a pullied eaton and my car is pretty damn loud. Longtubes, lethal orx and slp's. I can hear my blower perfectly and it whines like a bastard, not ported.

Like I said every set up / supercharger is different, who knows

Yes it would be, but not a lot of people run a 2.8 with a 4lb lower on a non-ported eaton. That should be around 16-17psi on a stock blower, thing must get pretty hot!

I just put a 2.76 and mine is quieter now compared to stock. It used to scream at lower RPM's but now only at higher RPM ranges?

1st thanks for all the info!!! Its a sonic blue coupe car.. I haven't had time to replace avatar. Hood blanket is gone, makes 17lbs and I'm not sure if its been ported. Belts not slipping it has a Pulley Billet Idler Kit and a gatorback. Like I said on a dyno jet "NOT a loaded dyno" it made 485 on a 90 degree day and 545rwt, runs great!! little more detail on mods: Kooks long tubes, full slp loudmouth, stock gear, stock programmed mass air, stock fuel, stock intake and a K&N filter. Now tell me how it made so much on the dyno!? I even called Pro Dyno in SC before I bought the car to verify it made that much, Ive got the dyno sheet and its by far the fastest cobra I've owned LOL. I have noticed on a cool 65 degree morning the supercharger is a little louder but Im telling you guys I have to look every now and then to make sure it really has an eaton its really quite.

I changed belts from a gator back to a dayco and there is only blower whine at WOT. With the gator back the whine was loud no matter what rpm, wide open or part throttle. I feel like I've been robbed.

Take a dog along with you and see how it responds. Maybe you just can't hear that pitch :-D
