Cool video! It's nice to see a street driven older musclecar running numbers like that. It seems like alot of them at the track these days are race cars only.

yea he drives it almost everyday if its not raining

Has a full, redone interior, even has a nice stereo, Real pleasant ride on regular streets, has a good idle, not too loud either unless hes on it, if only it had a overdrive 4th gear for freeway and maybe A/C it would be completely daily driveable

and like I said this car is going 11s with maybe 340hp

and the best part is he built it himself

Running 11s with 340hp is doing more with less :read:

How much does his car weigh? Isn't that the same car that lost to a bolt-on ls1 from a dig?

Nice run and nice video, too. I just read last month's "Hemmings Muscle Machines" and there was a letter to the editor that claimed the magazine gave too much credit to the old muscle cars of yesterday. The point of the guy's rant was that today we can have a V6 sport sedan running the same 1/4 mile times as an all-out factory racer from the late 60's and still have AC, leather seats, good brakes, blah blah blah.

You can't ignore the fact that these old tanks were fast in their day, and they are still fast now. There is nothing that can replace that visceral sound and feel of a big block with an all-steel RWD American car. Long live the muscle car.

Its always all about money and taste. I have seen old school drag new school down the track. If you ever go to a national event you will see both - new and old versus each other. I personally would kill for a Pro-Street 1971 Roadrunner w/ a 605" Ray Barton Hemi.

Alot of the times on the older muscle cars could of probably been alot better if they weren't run on the crappy pizza cutter tires that came on them from the factory...I believe this video shows that pretty well.

Now you're talking. but don't forget, cars like the thunderbolt were very limited production numbers and were purposely built for the race track.

HowStuffWorks "1964 Ford Thunderbolt: A Profile of a Muscle Car"

here is more specs of some of the muscle cars from the 60's

Howstuffworks "Muscle Cars"

yep they were limited production but boy where they beasts in the day. still are today..I am around these cars a lot as my dad is a collector of old school muscle cars :)

Sounds like you all are judging times from a period when aftermarket heads did not exist, this car is going 11.9s with a stock 427, stock shitty pickup truck iron heads, not a fancy all aluminum overhead variable timing head, this car is a head and cam swap away from 10s

If i was to build a street car thats fast, I would pick an old school using a carbd engine with new CNC aluminum heads and all that

and who cares about 1000hp street cars if they still run 12s??? we aint talkin bout roll racing here

Your kind of a downer huh? What crawled up your pu**? So what your saying is that you cant take a 69 L88 vette, that ran 10's out of the box (which is faster than most you your 600+rwhp cobra's can say) and daily drive it?:bash: Imagine what that thing would do with some Heads, a cam, a built rear end and tires. Sounds like you would be looking at a daily driven 9 second car. :poke:

yeah from a 427..see the point??

old muscle car=crappy leaf spring suspension, big cube low horsepower...

The vette is still running on the same crappy leaf spring design of the 60's. Yeah those zr1's are crap.:bored: Amazing how many people think they know cars when all they really know is mustangs. 70 chevelle ss 454ci. 450hp. same with the zl1 camaro. 427ci 450+hp runnin 11's these days all stock. Low Hp? where do you get your info ?
