Built my first one back in August/September:

Corsair 350D
i7-4770K @ 4.6ghz
2x 780ti's in SLI @ 1280mhz
Custom water loop
G-Sync converted Asus VG248QE

Next one will be a full tower.......that mid-tower was a PITA

Hottest the gpu's have ever been on BF4 was 41*C both at 99% utilization

I'll have to run 3Dmark tomorrow. Can't recall right now what it scored......at work right now.

The 970 is a better score/$ ratio by a long ways in my mind

They usually score around 2k more points. Just don't see an extra $150-250 there
970 would be my choice as well. It's been shown that an overclocked 970 can match and in some cases better a base clocked 980. Price to performance, clear winner.

Here it is, ran the benchmark just now:

Max of 40*C on both @ 98% utilization on both, 344.65 WHQL driver

It's been quite some time. The rig I built a few years back was a full custom water cooled rig with an 2500k I was pulling close to 14k in 3DMark11 with dual 7950's. I spent a lot of money on the system only to sell if for half the price later. It's fun, bench marking is about as bad as comparing dyno charts, completely worthless in the end and a waste of money. I'm sure I'll get bored in build another one in the near future though...

I love PC gaming. Mine isn't as fancy as some others but I built my first rig over gosh...4 years ago for about $800 (mostly parts from Newegg) and it's still going stong.

-i5 750
-Corsair TX 650w power supply
-Antec 300 case
-1 TB WD Black (have since added another 1 TB Samsung )
-ATi HD 5770 1 GB Powercolor
-10 GB Gskillz Ripjaw
-Gigabyte P55 UD4 mobo

I also picked up a 24" Dell widescreen monitor and already had an old logitech G11 keyborad and standard optical mouse. Only thing I plan to do now is pick up another GPU at some point but honestly the games I currently play don't require it.

I'm itching to do another build. I don't do gaming rigs, but I build up to gaming specs. I've never been a fan of PC gaming. I'm still not sold on water cooling. I just don't see the complexity of the setup having enough benefit over a good fan and case.

But could it play Crysis?

Lol, the only question that matters!

Yup, Crysis3, 80+ fps average maxed setting with MSAA @ 1080p

Crysis has never really been a well optimized series, probably why it crushes so many rigs. It also doesn't scale very well in sli.

I just got tired of having 80°C air blowing at me when playing games for long periods of time.

I thought of doing a custom loop. A lot of work, but it pays off

My h110 with quad 140s gets the job done

I originally had a modified H60 on an overclocked FX-4170 and was running dual 560ti's with aftermarket gpu coolers. Problem was that they still weren't capable of keeping them cool with both of them overclocked. That 500 series of cars could double as space heaters.

Eventually went to dual loops......

before finally upgrading the CPU to an 8350 and tying everything together into one loop with the new single 670 GPU.

Haven't run a score on mine since they updated the 3DMark to include the new tests.

Water cooling is more than just the cooling property. It's the sport/engineering/planning your build and bringing it to life. You also can remove fans from many parts that go underwater which eliminates tons of ambient noises. You can not get the temps with a air-build without sounding like a 747 turbine. Real players go nitrogen cooled... lol

This one is called the drunken monkey, it has been through many versions. 4 triple radiators, 1 quad radiator. usually a Intel Engineering sample CPU, everything else seems to get changed, no other real constants.
Not pretty, will paint it one day.. lol
Mostly outdated now. will have to refresh her again one of these days.

Agreed. All of my fans (5x120) run at pretty much minimum voltage and the pc idles around 24c while browsing the net and is almost completely silent. Even when gaming the fans rarely come up above 60% throttle. The fan controller i use takes the PWM signal from the CPU and then converts that into voltage for standard 3 pin 120mm fans. Of course I can manually control them at any time I choose too. Loved laying things out and playing with the fittings even if it did mean I screwed up a time or two. Love the detail of some of these pieces even though I'm the only one who usually ever gets to see them.

Here's my bad boy. Did all the cable/wire routing myself.

DSCN9430_zpsdc38fa1a.gif

Shuttle HOT 555 1.53
P55C 200 mhz
40 GB HDD
128 MB RAM
SB16
3DFX Voodoo2 8 MB

I have another Voodoo2 lying around with a cable for true SLI (not that fake crap they have nowadays), but that HDD is so massive it requires a controller card that hogs up one of the only 3 PCI slots, because somebody didn't do a BIOS update, and I've been too lazy to fix it.
