Has anyone here, or anyone here know of, someone thats gutted the eaton and used it as an intake manifold? i assume it could work in theory but, what were its downfalls if it had any? and how hard is it to gut the eaton?

yeah. How would you hide all the plumbing?

some of the twin turbo kits mount in the bumper, and the I/C mounts were the heat exhanger would go. paint the intercooler black, and to the unknowing eye, it looks like you just have an upgraded H/E.

the car I saw had the turbo located behind the passenger side scoop. It was insanely stealth! you could not tell what he was running with the hood up. he even left the stock pulley cover on. I saw a link to it on this board a couple months ago.

Okay, After recieving your PM, here is all I have, The guys name was Chris Byford aka Derek Byford aka Crash, he owned Trixters Racing and ran the Got-Pressure forums, but he got stupid and ran from the cops in his D1SC 05 GT and is in jail now, and since the company went bankrupt, His forums are gone and so is his site, www.trixtersracing.com and www.got-pressure.com, on the other hand, he was turboing a red L, it was for I believe Powersurge Performance, he gutted the stock heaton and used it as a intake, question is IDK where the pictures are since his forums are gone, I'll do a search and post up for you.

Update: I got a link to PSP http://www.powersurgeperformance.net/ and I'm about 95% sure this is the truck he did it to, the red one in the picture http://www.powersurgeperformance.net/about.html
Here is another topic on the gutted eaton 03 cobra http://www.sccoa.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36249&highlight=gutted+eaton

oh yeah, he made the snout an idler and ran the stock pulley as an idler pulley, that was a slick set-up, IMO retarded and wasteful, but none the less very slick.

http://www.jmsproductsinc.com/TWIN TURBO.jpg

Project Spec: Complete IronMan 76mm 03-04 Cobra Turbo kit, Digital Boost control, Cobalt boost and Air Fuel gauges, DFI w/ 83lb injectors, twin 255Lb pumps, twin fuel lines, Fuel rails, 3-4" tigged Aluminum intake tubing, full 3" exhaust from long tube headers, Custom side exhaust, 8.8 solid axle w/ Eaton Posi 4:10's, 31 spline Moser axles, BBK Control arms, KYB quadshocks, Centerforce clutch, Fluidyne radiator, Crank case pump, 4 piston Brembo Brakes, 2x2x1/4 box tube subframe, 6 point cage, Ironman GenII Targa Kit and IronMan CL2 c-pillars

We elected to do a total sleeper by keeping the entire Eaton housing with the snout. We successfully gutted the stock supercharger and creating an idler pulley via independent snout assembly so that when the hood is popped it looks like a bone stock 03. This not only utilizes the existing upgraded intercooler for our 23PSI , but also saves $$$ on an air to air intercooler and replacement manifold. Estimated power is 810 RWHP and 900+ with Heads and cams.

lol lol lol
I also just got that from http://www.rage3d.com/board/archive/index.php?t-33866952.html

BTW this is kind of my take on your idea but JMO
That is the most retarded turbo setup I have ever seen. What moron designs a 90 degree mandrel bend in an airflow solution. How ****in retarded.

Secondly the above poster is right, the heat that will generate will totally warp the front body panels.

Absolutely, positively a terrible inefficient design.

I think the best way to do it would be to do a HP kit and just fix all the welds and then run with a gutted eaton blower, but that will cause ALOT of issues, mainly because the HP kit is a pos, IMO I'd go twin 61s from THP and forget about being stealthy

i personally intend to run one of the twin turbo kits you can buy, like the one from turbochargedpower.com with 60mms. Im not really all for the whole "remote mount" crap. i want mine in the front bumper.

DO NOT go to www.turbochargedpower.com, thats the HP kit and has MANY issues and flaws in it, just ask CHINI about the qaulity of the HP kit. Go hellion or THP

I like the idea of it lookins stock and being insanely fast... does anyone make a rear mount turbo kit like the SVS kit for the C6? That thing looked stock under the hood minus the up pipe from the IC and it made GREAT power with a lot of efficiency... having a good rear mount turbo kit under the car, no one would ever know...
