I've recently bought a 04 cobra vert with 19k miles. Shortly after startup there is a whine that goes away after reving the car a few times. It doesn't sounds like a belt slip to me, its sounds like maybe the alt bearing or an idler pulley possibly. The sound does change when you rev the car before it stops completely, its more of a whine than a squeal. I should mention that the car is completely stock. Any help would be appreciated. I'm sure I can figure it out myself with some investigation but wanted to check to see if this is a common problem, and if so what to do about it.

If you have a stethoscope or suitable substitute, isolate which idler or tensioner is whining and replace.

Yes it is pretty common and now that they are getting a bit older this is even more common.

As you will find, there are quite a few in there though.

If i were you i would hurry and replace all the idlers with aftermarket. When the stock ones fail it does more expensive damage than what the idlers cost
