Hello Guyes,

i am form germany.
i bought a 2011 Shelby Gt500
and it is now shipped to me.

So i habe many time to search for things.

My frist Question is what oil should i run here in Germany.
(I drive 80% City but when i get on the Autobahn=Highway i put the padel to the metal)
i read now 3 days over oil in the Shelby what i figur out is
the MC 5w-50 is not good it sheard only a few miles since it it new.

Some guyes here in germany run on there Shelby 10w-60 TVS Castrol (not 10w-60 Edge Castrol) but i worry a littel bit about the 10w because i want to drive the car in the winter and it can be here 15 degrees minus.

What i read the only good oil is the redline 5w-50 which has the meets form ford to? and it is more stabel.

The Scound think is i want to install a Oil Catch can/ seperator.

I run in my Mustang Gt a JLT Catch can but i think i isn't that efficent.
Because after 300 miles i got a teaspoon of oil another 1000 miles it was the same until i clean the littel bit of oil and it collects another teaspoon oil.

Here are the Cans which i found:
1. UPR Catch can
2. Moroso Catch can
3. 42 draft designe
4. JLT Catch can
5. Haney Motorsport
6. Conceptual Polymer

The UPR what i saw collects a lot of oil.
But it has the Mesch Fiter and i am worry that it can by sucked in.

The 42 draft designe has a other system it has four filter screens to collect oil.

Or Conceotual Polymer he build his own catch cans but after 5000 Miles i have to buy a new filter and i can't use it again so i has to buy it in the usa and ship it to germany.

Maybe you can help me with my questions.

I would like to here form you

Thanks
Kanae

The UPR is many times larger than the JLT which is not necessary. Because of the size, if you have any wiring harness within 2-3 inches of the strut tower, it won't clear the harness. They show it going in a second hole forward of the ground lug plate which my car did not have. I did not want to try to drill new holes in 1/4" steel plate. The hoses on the JLT look way better than those supplied by UPR.

Did someone call my name? lol

You will find that using a true group IV PAO base stock lubricant will yield less oil in your catch can. Read this post I made to understand more on NOACK Volatility.

NOACK post - towards the bottom of post #241

For oil advice, read this thread. It's a long read, but worth it if you are serious about the best protection possible.

What oil for your Shelby?

This is my suggestion for every lubrication requirement of the Shelby.

Amsoil 10W-40 6.4 quart fill

Amsoil EaO11 oil filter

Make your T6060 transmission shift like butter.

Amsoil Synthetic ATF
3.2 quart fill

For your rear differential

Amsoil 75W-140 2.2 quart fill

Friction modifier is required in the factory differential. Use all 4 ounces

Amsoil Slip Lock 1 bottle required

and never pay retail price for it. Get it at dealer cost by adding this to your cart before you check out (save 25-30% on everything). Use the one year option, and get an unlimited supply of Amsoil at dealer cost.

FYI, Ive used and installed a lot of catch cans. The over all design of this tall and skinny catch can works killer. Better than any other I've installed.

Motul 300V is excellent stuff!

I'm leaning more towards the specs of this oil for the Shelby.

Motul 300V 5W-40 - factory fill is 6 liters (6.4 quarts U.S.)

It has the right viscosity at operating temps, excellent HT/HS, and great TBN. The specs are VERY close to Amsoil 10W-40 so your car will run great with it.

I would reserve the use of 15W-50 Motul 300V for road racing only with sessions that are 20 minutes or greater.

Motorcraft 5W-50 easily shear to a heavy 30 grade lubricant (cSt @ 100*C ~12.8) after only 2,000 miles. Motul 300V 5W-40 will not shear like that, and will maintain its viscosity (cSt @ 100*C 13.6) since it's a true synthetic base stock.

For every day driving on the autobahn, opt for Motul 300V 5W-40 (OK for your winter environment too)

For road racing sessions that call for WOT in long sessions (summer time only), opt for Motul 300V 15W-50
