The last time I did the rebuild on my irs differential I had no problem getting right parts but now ive gotten my self a little confused as to what rebuild kit is right for the irs as there seems to be a difference with solid axle or irs. Like do all 8.8 rebuild kits fit the irs ? also there seems to be a bearing/seal kit that is only for irs? would like to stay with Ford/racing performance.

The internal stuff is the same between the SRA and IRS. The last time I rebuilt mine I snagged a kit that didn't have the axle bearings and seals. You'll have to pick up the small half shaft support bearings and seals separately. I highly suggest replacing those while it's apart as it's much easier out of the car.

Thank you, I have a complete ford performance kit with 3.31 gears and the ford performance (irs)outer bearing and seals from LMR and a solid spacer kit in the shopping cart ready for order--soon as i get my diff removed, but very nervous on where Im going to bring it for set up as I want it perfect not wanting any more noise/growl and little backlash.

I went with 3.73s when I had my trutrac and didnt like it, didnt make much differnce in acceleration from stock but put the rpm range in no mans land when either in 3rd or 4th while cruising. Dont want to go to 4.10s so I just want to stay with close to stock and LMRs deal for the 3.31s complete kit is good. I have a torsen diff now and want to stay with it.

Did you consider 3.55s?

Yes for the last couple years I considered 3.55 but I like my rpm when cruising at what it is now around 2600 in 4th at 63 mph. Thats what speed I can go with out getting stopped in a 55mph zone. I do like to get on it but the 3.55 and 3.73 are not much of a difference with acceleration so Im staying with the almost stock ratio of 3.31. For me the only benefit going with a 3.73 or 4.10 is I could start out in 2nd gear. But Ive converted to a T56 and first gear is a little higher than the 3650 so 3.31 works for me.

Other than the T56 is a better shifter than the 3650-- its first gear is better cause for me the 3650 1st gear was too low, almost like a granny gear.

Also based on my 3.73 experience if any body is really wanting a boost in acceration and thats more important to them, I would recommend a 4,10
