Want to do a poll on what classic fastback mustang year is the most popular on the site. Also post where you think would be the easiest site or forum to buy said car.

69 GT fastback has my vote.

That fine example is a 1 of 1.

After my house is built I'll be getting one myself so I struggle with this all the time. I'll probably end up with a '69.

I'm partial to the 68 Shelby, white with blue side stripes, because I have one, but every year I think about selling it because I don't drive it much, so maybe I'm not the best judge. If I was starting from scratch, 2017 GT 350 hands down.

It's not really fair in the Poll considering it's generational. Your 65-66 is relatively the same. 67-68 and 69-70 are also generations. Makes sense to do a vote by that than individual years.

I went 67-68. I'm not sure Ford will ever build a car that can match that design again. Not in how classic, nostalgic, forward, aggressive, and beautiful it is.

I've had every generation of fastback. In terms of driving, the 67-68's (coupe's and Fastbacks) are way more fun to drive. The 69/70's feel bigger and less nimble. The 65/66 cars ride like horse and buggies usually because they are so freaking lite.

1967, because my father had one and I remember it slightly as a child. Hunter green. 289 with a 4 speed. Can't remember the code but it had the 9".

Dammed tree limp fell on it in a bad storm and literally crushed the car :(

Place to start for one already restored is probably the DuPont Registry

While true, unlike today, you could easily tell what year the Mustang (or any car) was by looking at it since there was almost always something exclusive to that year only.

Actually it's still true today. Ford likes to have small running model changes. Whether its paint colors, the turn signal hood, badges, wheels, or whatever... I can usually spot and predict the year fairly accurately. I imagine most on here can do that if they are worth their salt in mustang knowledge.

for me its a tough one between the sleekness of 65/66 and the brutish 69/70. for a driver, probably a 69 with a shaker hood.

'66 all day for me. It gets the nod because the Falcon dash was gone after '65. The only drawback of the 65-66 models is the tiny rear wheel wells. Nearly impossible to put power down without a mini-tub. A 351 fits but no need for it with a healthy 289/302 block.

Unlike most folks, I like a nice hardtop over a fastback.
