Unlike smoking pork I can never get a solid ring on brisket even if I blast it with consistent solid smoke. Maybe it is because I don't trim the fat cap. I'd rather the candy taste than a color. Besides that faux pas, the bark, flavor, juiciness and consistency are all to my approval.
