I'm going to be purchasing a GT 500 soon, I'd like to get everybody's option on which years had the strongest engines? I'll want to do some upgrades.
Thanks, everybody

All about the same. 07-10 have iron block 11 up aluminum. Pick your poison.

^^agreed, if you have enough money to make enough hp to blow it up then you can afford to replace it...about 750whp and 23# boost

like everyone else has said...pick one. just going off what ive read off this forum is 750ish is about the limit between power/reliability and of course depending on how hard you plan on being with it.

Some guys push way beyond recommended limits and hold together.

I know that Harold (CursedGSX on this site) is a '03 Cobra but a good example of pushing a stock motor:

08s are the strongest.... they can handle 1043.5 whp

07's/09-12s can handle 743.8 whp / 623.5 tq any more and rods will break free of the crack creating an new exhaust port in the block. Of course that's on 87 oct, if you run 123 octane than you can add 11.437568% to the above numbers

'07 red coupes, built in June of' 06 will go 750 to the tires and 23 pounds of boost. Your results will very likely vary. :banghead::banghead:

Not saying one is better than the other but I've yet to hear of an 11+ motor let go.

One downside though, is that if an 11-12 does let go you are stuck having to sleeve the block or get a new one from Ford. With an 07-10, you can bore/hone and be on your way.
