What would cause a Vortech impeller to break like this???

It's probably a combination of picking up pieces. I had a similar issue with my T trim. The elbow slipped off and the impeller chewed it up pretty good. My impeller didn't get damaged however. The only reason I caught it is because I got in the habit of popping the hood after I parked it every time.

Damn you were lucky, would a silicone elbow be better???

While pulling off my power pipe, I could hear something moving around in the air filter... Look what I found hiding inside.... Some of the broken fins, too bad it wasn't ALL of them.... Oh well looks like I'll finally get my forged engine :beer:

I don't think the coupler itself matters. I think you either had a bad casting or picked up something from the road.

It wasn't intercooled, but I'm sure there would have been.
