One word of advise I will give you if you go with the tires you mentioned above, get some matching front runners or you will be chasing the car all the way down the track. I'm taking it by your thread that you have never really ran on a race tire. A non-radial tire as you showed above will float on the track, making it feel like the car is moving back and forth, especially on the top end. Running a radial front tire and non-radial rear tire will just multiply the problem and leave you trying to steer the car in the straight line.

Only have been to a track once and didnt have a trailer so i took it easy on the launch. I was using a set of nt05 r's. But no i have not used a non radial tire before or even a real drag tire. Thank you for the advice, i will see what i can find for the front! BTW im open to suggestions

This is the wheel I plan on running. Im not sure if Im going with 26" or 28" tall tires.
With 315/35/17 555R's I was cutting 1.7-1.8 60's leaving from an idle. My car also has 4.10's so Im not sure if that made a difference.

Im thinkin 26" just because it wont be killing your or my end gear ratio. U could bump up to a 28" buut i would go to the track and see how many rev's ur cranking over by the end. If you are near redline with 17's and a 315 35 i would go with 26 but if you are needing another gear by the end (6500+rpm) i would go 28. Just my opinion.

With 4.10s and 315/35 (26") im at about 6200-6500 rpm. I only get about 125mph out of 4th with the 4.10's. A 28" tire with 4.10's is about the same as a 26" tire with 3.73's. You end up with close to the same final drive ratio.

If I was you I would get some 16" V6 or 98 pony wheels and run some M/T DR's out back unless you plan on getting some skinnys, then I would run a full slick. Whatever you do, dont mix the bias ply and radial tires.
When I had my SRA I was running stock steel 15x7 jeep wrangler wheels. They weren't the lightest wheel but I was able to mount 275/50/15 (26x10) M/T DR's and cut low 1.7 60 ft's when I had the eaton.
Where are you located in Neb?

This post may sound ignorant to buying upgrades, but since i dont play around in town and play at the track, will a soft sidewall tire be able to cure wheelhop? Just curious because i have all stock bushings with a bumpsteer kit

I run a 16x8 chrome cobra r wheels that weighs 24 pounds and i have 28/10/16 Hoosiers on them. I get consistent 1.51-1.52 on this set up. I will post up pics when i get home this after noon.

BY THE WAY I HAVE AN EXTRA SET OF THOSE 16X8 CHROME COBRA R'S IF ANYBODY IS INTRESTED I WILL $200 SHIPPED FOR BOTH OF THEM.

With a softwall tire all ofyour wheel hop will go away. I have been running slicks on my car now for 5 years and have not had one broken axel.

Cool. Im in Sioux City. Dont you guys have a big car cruise/street drags every year? I would like to come to that. I always see the 1320video pics and it always looks like a blast :burnout:
I don't have too much wheel hop with the 555R's. I have upgraded bushings and subframe connectors. But I will more than likely not buy DR's again for everyday use.
