This has happened before but I have never written about it, so here goes.

I was going out for a nice sunday drive in the "L" when I hit the highway by my house I see what appears to be a Cobra. So, I pull up to him and look him over really quickly and realize he is GT in snakes Clothing with a loud exhaust. So, I continue about my drive.

About two minutes later I see them pass me, it is a young driver maybe 17 or 18 and his 15 year old passenger. Traffic slows them up and I see him looking for me and his passenger looking eager to catch up to me. Finally, I pull to the right and he gets there and the passenger motions me to roll down my window, so I do. He says if I am up for it, we would hit it at the next light, because his buddy's BT is quite moded and he has beaten Lightnings before. Now, I am trying figure out what he has that I didn't see.

that light comes up and it is green, he is waiting as it turns yellow and red as I slowly ease into place. He is reving it and looking over. I took him off the line and had him by five cars lengths when I hit 80 and pulled off to get gas.

Now, this is the point. Two parts. One, why race why you suck? And second, now I am filling with gas, he pulls up screaming about me cheating and him kicking my ass. well neither thing was happening, me cheating or him kicking anything.

So, against my better judgement and with 24 gals on board. We do it again, and again by four car lengths at 80. I immediately pull over and his passenger was telling him that i won and his car sucked too.

I pulled away and continued to enjoy my day with the 60 degree weather.

adam, confused at todays young folk.

i think everyone should have to EARN their first mustang....then they would have a much better appreciation for it....

hmm.

i bought my first mustang in 1990: a 1966 coupe equipped with a 289 4v and a c4. nice car. paid cash for it. lost her due to a drunk driver (car was parked).

i waited 2 years, then got the keys to the prize i really wanted: dad's 1966 coupe. 3-spd manual. fast car. swapped my old engine into it and the car could really scream. i still have it and it's being restored.

bought my snake 2 months ago. no help from the parents, girlfriend, or family. pretty frickin' proud of that too!

anyhow, i do think that the kids should earn their first pony. i hate seeing 15-17 year olds driving what is obviously too much car for them, and driving it poorly too.

notsotame: kewl! i have much respect for those that go out and EARN what they have as opposed to mommy and daddy buying it for them.

i had the opportunity to buy a 1963 stingray for about $3k. mom said no, so i was SOL.

enjoy your snake.

my first mustang (hopefully)

I am 17 years old myself, and I got my first car free, It was an escort bought as a total for $675 dollars and fixed for less than 2g. But now I have to save my own money, and try to get my first mustang... I feel sorry for the kids who get their mustangs and other expen$ive cars, more than I despise them, because they have no appreciation for what they have...... anyway, Scoriox, your in the big OKC?? me too, just wonderin' if you know of any 88-92 lx notchbacks, for a decent price.

Well, first off:

"Why race when you know you're going to get beat?"

Sometimes you just want to give it a shot. Or in the case of a viper or a Porsche GT2 you just want to see those things fly (from personal experiance).

I'm 17 and I have a 2001 Cobra. I work whatever hours I can to make the payments and then a little additional for mod money. I do work for the car and I agree with Notsotame. I hate when people say that it's daddy's car.

Just let itself all work out. One time that kid is going hurt himself trying to race and that'll be that.

I know how you feel. I work 6 days a week bartending and I honestly hate it. Unfortunately,I own the bar,so if I don't do it,then noone will. But since I am 19,all the retards around here assume my dad bought it for me. The loan is in his name so the car is on his insurance. He is nice enough to pay that 50 bucks a month. But I pay every penny of the 450 dollar payment. Even though everybody knows I work there they still wanna believe that I can't afford it on my own. I guess it makes them feel better. I've balled up one car in my life but every once in a while someone will ask me "wreck that mustang yet?" and I say no so they say "go head daddy will buy you a new one". It's obviously just jeolousy but that doesn't make you any less heated. They will probably whine forever but my car is still faster than theirs.

Its pretty funny that everytime you beat them they want to kick your ass! Well I toasted a Camaro in my C5 and after it was done he followed me off the freeway to the gas station. He pulled up thinking I was some rich puss boy untill I got out and he saw my 6'4'' 320 pound ass! Well he quickly thought to himself that he was messing with the wrong dude and he started running to his car! I was LMAO
