There was a Pied Piper who said,

“We live in the greatest country in the world. Help me change it!”

*And the people said, “Change is good!”

Then he said, “We are going to tax the rich fat-cats,”…

*And the people said “Sock it to them!”

“And redistribute their wealth.”

*And the people said, “Show me the money!”

Then someone asked, “With no foreign relations experience, how will you deal with radical terrorists?”

And the Pied Piper said, “Simple. I’ll sit down and talk with them and show them how nice we really are and they’ll forget that they ever wanted to kill us all!”

Then the Pied Piper said, “I’ll give 95% of you lower taxes.”

*And one, lone voice said, “But 40% of us don’t pay ANY taxes..”

So the Pied Piper said, “Then I’ll give you some of the taxes the fat-cats pay!”

*And the people said, “Show me the money!”

Then the Pied Piper said, “I’ll tax your Capital Gains when you sell your homes!”

*And the people yawned and the slumping housing market collapsed.

And he said, “I’ll mandate employer- funded health care for EVERY worker and raise the minimum wage.”

*And the people said, “Gim’me some of that!”

So the Pied Piper said, “Not to worry. If your rebate isn’t enough to cover your expenses, we’ll bail you out. Just sign up with ACORN and your troubles are over!” Then he said, “Illegal immigrants feel scorned and slighted. Let’s grant them amnesty, Social Security, free education, free lunches, free medical care, bi-lingual signs and guaranteed housing.”
*And the people said, “Ole`! Bravo!” And they made him King!

And so it came to pass that employers, facing spiraling costs and ever-higher taxes, raised their prices and laid off workers. Others simply gave up and went out of business and the economy slowed even further. Then the Pied Piper said, “I am the Messiah and I’m here to save you! We’ll just print more money so everyone will have enough!”

But our foreign trading partners said, “Wait a minute. Your dollar isn’t worth what it was. You’ll have to pay more.”

*And the people said, “Wait a minute. That’s not fair!”

And the world said, “Neither are these other, idiotic programs you’ve embraced. You’ve become a Socialist state and a second-rate power. Now you’ll play by our rules!”

*And the people said, “What have we done?”

But it was too late.
If you think this is a fairy tale, open your eyes and ears. It’s happening RIGHT NOW!

Did you know the president’s name is really an acronym…
One Big Ass Mistake America

:wf: There is this place in the magical world of SD called um......politics thread!

Go peddle your views there.

If the moderators want to move it that's fine with me...

Weird though, you can post a pic of an "atheist bus" with no point whatsoever and it stays up forever and nobody asked the OP to peddle their views elsewhere. Isn't that weird?

* Btw, this was posted as a test of SVTP moderation that's being discussed on another forum. *

Too bad too many American's are more concerned with American Idol than the current American state...

I feel ashamed that my grandfather's generation worked so hard to build this country into what it is, and subsequent generations have let it fall apart.

It reminds me of Gran Torino. My grandfather is like Clint Eastwood, keeps his house immaculate and runs his life on pride of his country and an ethical code at 89 years old, while the rest of my generation (the me generation) is more consumed with myspace, posting, pictures of themselves, and how they can squeak by with doing the least amount of work possible.

We will see things happen in the next few years that you would have never imagined possible. Although I don't believe it will go this far, this has all the implications that Russia had before the fall of the Soviet Union. We all know what happened there. Wake up.

Great post! Might get heated pretty quick in here though. I agree with the essay you posted but you know the people who can really make a difference are gradually getting outnumbered. Pretty soon the people who truly care about America and aren't soley here to blood suck it will only be like 35-40% of the population. Makes me sick.

I understand it may get heated and honestly that is not my intent here. This has NOTHING to do with being a Bush supporter and nothing to do with hating Obama. Bush is no longer in office and is 100% irrelevant.

I just hope that more people start to open their eyes and question what is going on in this country. What has just happened between GM and this government is absolutely socialism and people need to educate themselves. I know it's easier to look the other way and not keep up with politics but now is not the time. Educate yourselves. Keep up on what's going on. And if you don't think something is right make some noise about it.

Well I am a very right winged conservative and I agree to an extent that the US and its people shouldn't let any of the big three fall. Does that mean we pay all our tax dollars to help them, no? Something should be done to aide them or let them go bankrupt and restructure. It would be very bad if we lost our biggest industry. The big three have history, icon status, and many years of helping America through wars and technology. They must survive. I am all for true capitalism but when it comes to this my view is a bit different. We can't let them go away. We have already let foreign companies take over almost everything. I wish America was like it was in the 50's...we made all electronics, cars, appliances, everything and all Americans bought American. Now its like people could careless about our own inventions/manufacturing because as long as its cheap and works they dont care. I don't care even if a Honda is a tad better then my Focus, I'd get the Focus just to buy American. Call me nuts but I have that much nationalism. Again, its not true capitalism to think this way but I would rather have mostly domestic capitalism and small amounts of imports.

I see... but the athiest bus is still not politics, now if there were a religion thread i would have said the same thing. Maybe there should be one of those too. It just seems to me that these kinds of posts should stick to smackdown.

What forum is discussing moderation?

Bush made people pull so much equity out of their homes that a 4 week layoff made them unable to pay their mortgage..so they want bailed out?

Bush made the big 3 so financially unstable that they could not weather the storm of a recession for more then 14 months...so they want bailed out?

Bush was behind the paper pushing ****s down on wall street that make a living off running crooked scams and convincing people to cash out their 401k's so they have no money to retire on?

Bush is the one FORCING lenders to take several million dollars of tax payers money whether they want it or not? For example Wells Fargo who relentlessly tries to give back the bail out money they never asked for but the gvt. won't allow them to. Why do you suppose that is? So they can have some level of control over their infrastructure. This is a fact look it up. Since when did gvt. get to have any control over private businesses? Does that seem right to you...This is why I say to educate yourselves. There is A LOT of stuff going on that the news is conveniently not talking about right now.

This isn't a democrat or republican caused problem. The BIGGEST problem in this country that led us to this point is staring us right in the mirror. The answer is NOT going to be found in Washington.
