I recall a visit to hurlbert and was amazed how much training and how young a lot of those guys were. Much respect.

Wow, that's the definition of a real hero. I hail this hero and the many others who have sacrificed like him. True warrior there!

I understand what he died for. Courageous is the word that comes to mind. RIP.

On a larger scale though, what did him and so many others die for exactly? Is Afghanistan another war we don't talk about? What did "we" accomplish in Afghanistan?

It was revenge for 9-11. After bin laden i would have considered a pull out. Long term, killing aq and isis is not a bad thing. Supporting afg until it is fully combat capable may make the nation an ally to help counter balance pakistans tacit and overt support for basing these nefarious ruffians.
