That movie used to scare the livin bejesus out of me as a kid........and kinda still does. Especially when they are hiding in the house, and the probe comes in looking for them.

Heh... When I was a kid, I'd watch the TV show, with the black dude in the wheel chair and the Highlander... The episode with the girl, when she wrapped her coat around the guy and then the three-fingered alien hand shot out of her chest and killed him... I was scarred.

I swore to myself I would NEVER get close enough to a woman to let the hand bursting out get me. Thank God I realized how stupid that was... I just do 'em from behind now. Sneaky alien hands still haven't got me.

The origional scarred me for life. I had nightmares of the ships blasting the city for years. The thought of even watching the origional freaks me out!!!

Yep, seen the original and heard recording of the original radio boadcast. H.G. Wells was very clever. Whole lot of people freaked out for real when it originally broadcast on the radio, despite the disclaimers saying it was not real.

Dont see how they could improve on the old ones...but I will be one of the millions seeing it this weekend. :pop:

guys fyi, the bridge that they show getting completely screwed sideways is located down the block from me, right near my old shitty highschool in a pretty crappy neighborhood on Staten Island. So when you see the move go OMG I KNOW DEAN AND HE LIVES THERE I MUST CALL HIM TO SEE IF HES ALIVE! hehe

what made it so crediable was the person he used to tell the story. Apparently it would be like Dan Rather, or Tom Broca(sp?) telling the story over the TV today.

with radio and no real way to find out information.
He knew how to manipulate people. Alot of people would tune in half way thru the show, which is what caused the wide spread panic.

one person jumped from their office and died.

Just got back from seeing the new one. Great special effects, but there were way too many loopholes and just dumb parts in the movie. And the ending made me ask why I just spent $10 on the movie.

Special Effects A+
Plot C-
Overall C+

Come on, if The Thunderchild isn't in the new one then it sucks.

The movie wasn't that bad, but def. not what I expected. The ending wasn't what I expected and Tom Cruise singing while crying was a little disturbing.
