A little last minute fine tuning and we're ready to rock. The VMP Ego-Boost Mustang is a comp orange, base car with performance pack for handling and an auto.

The car will be driven from central Florida to Bowling Green and ready for a little track fun on Thursday. Looking forward to seeing many of you there. Come by the VMP booth and take a look at our little 4 banger.

Now that we're back from Bowling Green, here's the poop. The car makes just over 400 tire through the automatic. It has 3.55 gears. We have work to do ironing out the 60' because it simply wouldn't launch. We'll have it by the end of the week.

In the meantime...let's talk about what we learned in it's first outing:

It had never been on the track. Only a few street pulls and dyno work.

We are partnering with FFTEC on configuring and tuning this kit. It is a Borg Warner ERF7670 turbo, FFTEC charge pipe and downpipe. We are using Cobb for a tuning platform.
The 7670 supports a ton of power, however it's not going to spool nearly as quickly as the stock unit, nor a smaller aftermarket unit. It comes on around 3500 and is full tilt at 4000.
Until we get the 60 issue worked out, this thing is the ultimate roll race sleeper!! It WILL put you back in your seat.

Stock injectors and pumps.

Methanol injection to supplement the fuel supply.

93 octane.

Stock auto trans.

25.5" 555R's on the back.

Full weight high trap speed was 116mph 3 different times, so it's repeatable and consistent.

With a sub 2.00 60' it's a very easy 11 second car. BUT...out 60's were more in the 2.10 range. There were other autos cutting 1.70s but not with nearly this much torque, so we have work to do with the calibration.

Charge temps were kept in line thanks to the Levels Performance intercooler.

That's it for now. Days of crappy weather and long road trips now give way to some regular duties. The car will return for Pony Wars in 2 weeks.

Oh...and hats off to svtperformance.com and the other EcoBoost competitors for a great event, lots of fun and bringing the Eco platform to the forefront.

Congrats to our friends at UPR for the win!

Will a bigger stall converter and /or a transbrake be what you need?

So....

With better traction and a convertor this should be a mid-11 second or faster car?

What about if you toss E-85 into the mix? 10's?

Is there any weight removed from as-delivered condition?

So my power guess was pretty accurate.

Pretty close

Trap says it's a mid-11 car all day long. 116 ties the trap speed of Brad Gussler's dedicated SCT/Watson Racing Eco which weighs a bunch less. This one is full weight, seats, head to toe exhaust, an overnight bag in the trunk and a full tank of gas. And my big butt in the seat at 2 bills.

Traction is not an issue. Getting on the turbo is the issue. The factory converter is good to about 2500. 2500 is around 10psi...or about half of where it needs to be to launch hard. It's the mid-size EFR offering. The smaller one will spool more quickly but won't support this kind of power. A 4000 stall will get us where we need to be.

The thing is a *&^%$ rocket once it's on the boil, picking up 23-24mph on the big end. You can be running 20 mph down the street, mat it, and it'll absolutely paste you to the seat. There isn't a stock nor tune-only Coyote that will touch it. It makes as much power as a tuned Coyote and weighs nearly 300 pounds less.

e85 isn't an option. As it is, we drain the rails at the hit and supplement it with 100% M-1 to keep the rails happy. Remember, this is a direct injected car. There is an aux rail that you can use for a second set of injectors, but you can't do e85 and supply the volume necessary on a stock system.

I actually ran my tune / cat back coyote at OSW and did 12.2 @115. If you're out there we can get a run in. I'm on street tires too.

And my car only makes 370-380rwhp/360-370rwtq through the auto.
