Has everyone seen the Viking double adjustable rear IRS coilover kit that they are coming out with? It's $588 plus shipping for the complete kit. Thoughts? Worth it? Is Viking high quality, I have no experience with Viking? Better than Maximum motorsports?

So they make a front coilover kit? Do they make k-members as well? What k member do you run?

I've been wondering about those. I have the MM set up, but I wouldn't mind something with the threads as part of the shock bodies instead of a sleeve.

I have Viking DA shocks on my IRS. Top notch stuff. Rides like OEM if not better. Really good products. $588 is really cheap.

Viking is very reliable and I use them on a few of my cars no problem. They don't make a k member unfortunately. If you ever have specific questions on viking or want pricing on their products let me know.

I was referring to the rear. They recommended 250 lb in the rear for a street car.

Who does? That seems awfully light. I want to say wheel rate is roughly half of spring rating because of how our suspension is set up.

All coilover set ups I've seen have a heavier spring in the rear. Maximum Motorsports is the place that recommended the 475's for me. But then my car is a street car/canyon carver. I imagine a strip car is a lot different.

The Viking distributor on facebook. I'm trying to confirm. I thought the rear was only 33% and fronts 50%.

Depends if you're talking about a coilover set up or the stock set up. The front doesn't require as much spring rate with a coilovers because the spring is basically at the wheel. In the stock location I could see the 50% difference.

In the rear the spring position stays pretty much in the middle. It just moves from the front of the control arm to the rear.

All this being said I do remember hearing SRA's don't need as much spring rate. A torque arm set up is even lower.

Just so everyone has this information, I talked with Viking regarding the spring rates for their front and rear coilover kits. They indicated they are just finishing up the rear IRS coilover kit and I saw Lethal performance is actually selling the kit now as well. They ended up picking a 14” 275 lbs for a street spring, 250 lbs would be more street/strip. They have a lot of rates available beyond that. I'm thinking I may just do the steeda k-member with MM control arms and get the Viking front and rear coilover kits and call it a day!

Front spring rates include:
+250 -street

+200- street/strip

+175- drag

+300- handling

Rear IRS spring rates include:
+275- street

+250- street/strip

+225-drag

+450- handling

I’m curious how much the crusader series shocks would be in this setup. Also a little skeptical on a single shock bolt being able to withstand the weight of the car plus a 300lb spring loaded in a turn.

So I purchased the rear 250 kit and the matching Viking front coilover kit. The rears just came in, just awaiting the fronts. I'll be installing them in the spring. Just need the Steeda k-member, MM control arms and front strut/rear shock tower braces.

The run these on my 1999 GT as a front coil over kit and as rear shock and they are fantastic. I will be going with these for the rear of my cobra and the front when I do a UPR K-Member on the Cobra
