To my ear it sounds like a cross between a V6 and a diesel. Awesome project, though.

Yeah...no. Leave the V12s to the Italians.

Thing sounds like shit.

Why 241 castings? 799 and 243 were produced in far greater numbers and would meet their GM only criteria along with an easy 50+ more HP.

Mild compression, short duration /low lift cam and restrictive heads. Ported 243 heads, cam change and a bump in compression and it would do 800 pretty easy.

Agreed. I like the idea. I'm always in favor of more displacement/cylinders. I think a max-effort pump gas version should make a good 850ish.

It sounds funky because it has a 90 degree block. Can't tell from the pics on their site, it looks like a 90, as well. And they say it is odd-firing. Close, so close. If they had made it a 60-degree V with a 120-degree crank, it would sound like an Allison V-12 from a P-38.

Still, maybe those heads would fit a 60-degree-V block ...

I dont hear what you guys are hearing. Not saying it sounds good or bad. Just that it's difficult to hear the exhaust tone in that environment. Id have to hear it through a proper exhaust on a car. Pretty cool shit if you ask me.
