God, it is so ****ing true. Just took my test 2 weeks ago. I don't know why the Air Force uses civilians for our PT evals.

Example: Push-ups = "1,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,2,3,4,5,6,6,6,6,6,6,6,6,6,6,6,6,7,8,9,9,9,9,9,9"

Thats simple, too many O's and SNCOs were putting pressure on PTLs to pass them along with friends of PTLs.

I can't see the pic until I get "home"....

LOL

When I was in Tech School (I guess it's called AIT now), I did it at Fort Belvoir, VA. We were surrounded by Army trainees, and we lived in the barracks with Navy and Marine trainees as well (Defense Mapping School).

What's funny to me about what you said is that my old commandant (TSgt.) pushed the shit out of us for PT, likely more than what "normal" USAF trainees in USAF bases do. We suspected that our sarge had a bet going with the Marines' Gunny that we can do what they did.

After that, going to a normal duty station, I was shocked at how relatively easy it was to pass physical testing compared to what we had during my months of training at an Army base.

I'm at Leonard Wood currently which has all branches though I rarely see AF or Navy.

But from what I can gather, Marines are the PT guys. Especially now that PRT is the standard for the Army.

When I was in (84-04) I could never max out my PT score due to my waist size. I had a 38 in waist. I'd maxed out the push ups and sit up, run the mile & 1/2 in around 9 flat. That test is such BS. I was 5' 11" with a very non V-shaped waist to chest ratio. Maybe cause of being Mexican-American heritage. I did great in over 30 Basketball, volleyball and tried slow pitch softball every year. In the RED HORSE we had PT 3 days a week and I was in perfect shape. Of course anyone who got a perfect score got recognition except I'd smoke m all on the run! Good thing am out. Going for a 1 hr 45 min 1/2 marathon this year too

Im so glad Im getting out next month. The test are so inaccurate and have no relation to real combat. There shouldnt be a point system if they require a minimum for each category. Had this guy in my unit with a 27" waiste and did only 20 p/u & s/u and ran in 12min but passed with flying colors (old test), but couldnt lift 50lbs without help.

Yup thats true, maybe partly because we have to do PT everyday right after morning formation. (maybe its different for non grunts)

they also have a CFT, which is pretty retarded and im glad im out since i only did 1 combat fitness test (when it was still a pass no pass). its pretty easy though especially if you already pt everyday.

I have a cousin thats a captain in the AF, i haven't seen him in like 7 years and im surprised he still looks the same, never bulked up or gained weight. just the same scrawny dude... lol

Besides the waist issue I also always had an issue with women having such low PT standards. Last time I checked, the M16, 203GL, 9mm, Flak jacket, MOPP, hammer, shovel Gear I carried/wore was the same for everyone. Especially in the RED HORSE where we were a mobile construction squadron. We were building stuff all the time and 90% of the woman never carried their weight! Some guy would always have to step up and do more. They’d get the cushy job of escorting the concrete drivers, material deliver’s or office work when thou AFSC wasn’t a triple nickel. Did I go off task?

Ive been in the AF now for 4 years, ACC Aircraft Maintenance. Let me tell you, the Air Force is the biggest joke of a "military". WHY DOES IT MATTER WHAT SOMEONES WAIST SIZE IS WHEN MY MISSION IS TO BE PROFICIENT IN MY JOB OF PUTTING JETS IN THE SKY?

Are you serious? Being somewhat fit is part of your job too. If you don't like that then get out. It's really not that hard to not be fat in maintenance...it's not like you ride a desk. Stop eating trash, workout, and you won't be fat.

Waist size isn't directly correlated to fitness.

A good example is some of the strong-man competitors, or even some WWE guys. More than a few of them will likely be able to outrun me, but they will never have a girly waist, no matter how hard they try. Some people are just built like walls.

It doesn't apply in this case, but when I was still in, I had a buddy who was 5'3" 215lbs, but was all muscle. He was stunted because he'd been working out since he was like 10. It was funny hearing that he had to go get his BMI taken because even though he maxed out all the physical tests, he was "overweight" for his height, even though anyone looking at him can tell he was built like a tree trunk.

I was diagnosed with asthma about 3 years ago. Didn't stop them from putting my ass through PT that's for sure.

I have a strong feeling that this is more of the exception, rather than the rule.

I worked with too many Airman Chunk's that complained about PT and waist size. Many of them pretty much ate all their meals at fast food places and didn't really work out.

edit: That video is pretty funny though :)
