Tranny help

I have an 03 auto Mach and I currently have the tranny out for a converter swap. While it's out I wanted to swap the factory clip that's known to come undone with the after market spiral clip. Does anyone have any idea how this is done? I've always had stick cars so I don't know my way around an auto that well.
