I saw in a post where someone changed there rear diff housing to a cast housing from a Thunderbird. I kinda like this idea for strength because I am looking to do the FTBR bushing kit and was told that the weak spot is now the diff carrier caps.

Any thought on this? What Thunderbird years do I get them from?

Any year 89-97 Thunderbirds have cast steel front IRS housing , the rear cover was aluminum , 93-98 Mark VIIIs have all aluminum housing just like Cobras

8.8 is cast in the housing. The v8's and the suopercoupes have the 8.8 and the v6's have the 7.5. I have both the mark 8 and the lincoln covers for 75.00 shipped

Good Morning!

I am going to have a FTBR kit installed in a couple of weeks and I was told the same thing as the OP. I pulled a cast iron pumpkin out of a 94 V8 thunderbird and I had a couple of questions of where to go from here.

I bought the kit with FRP Cover and I want to know if that will work on this pumpkin.

Can I reuse my stock gear or do I need new ones or should I get new ones?

What else would I want to build a "bulletproof" rear end?

Thanks!
