Thinking of getting a Tundra TRD Pro or Tacoma TRD Pro. Thoughts?

I like the tundras but felt the interior was still lacking a bit. I cross shopped them and the f150 as I’ve previously owned both trucks. Ultimately I went home with a 19 ram. Have had it since December and have 7k miles on it so far, would gladly purchase one again.
I just bought a 19 Ram too. I didn't get the 12" display. If you go to 5thgenram forum, there seems to be a lot of problems with the 12" system.
How is the MDS on the 5th gen Ram?

I have a 2016 Ram Sport 4X4, rcsb and I ABSOLUTLEY HATE THE ****ING MDS! It drives me insane. I have a Flowmaster Outlaw direct replacement muffler on it, which I read makes it worse. I shut the MDS off almost every single time I drive my truck. I could give 2 ****s about MPG, I want full Hemi power at all times, like I did with my '05 Ram Daytona rcsb truck. Now that thing was a beast. This truck is a beast too, but the MDS system really kills it for me.

I don't know if my mds ever kicks in. I'm hooked to a trailer most of the time and I'm in tow haul. The active noise canceling is amazing. With the windows up, it is the quietest vehicle I've ever been in, and I also own a Cayenne Turbo for comparison. When I step on the loud pedal, it sounds like a v8 should.

I’ve been looking at the Tacoma but waiting for increase in funds. I want the 19/20 TRD Offroad stick.
The Gladiater will be $15k more.
The only other truck I like under $50k is the 18/19/20 150 stx fx4.

Not sure if you can do the same thing with Rams, but my wife’s 17 Tahoe I can keep it in V8 mode by locking out 6th gear (switch to manual mode and toggle to 5th).

I got a 2017 Colorado instead of a 2017 Tacoma, because in every measurable way the Colorado is better: HP, TQ, MPG, towing, payload... Now, 2017 is when Chevy first introduced the 8 speed, and frankly I've been less than thrilled with this truck. Maybe an 18 would have been better once they'd sorted the kinks out, but idk.

There are times I wish I'd gotten a Tacoma, but the lack of power and technology just bothered me for that much money. It's like Toyota keeps selling the same old truck because people keep buying it...

colorado maybe better on paper but in real world the taco will still be on the road when the colorado is rotting in the junkyard or sitting in someone's overgrown backyard.

toyota trucks are the best quality in the world bar none and i say that as a diehard ford fan.

Had a '04 4Runner for 8 years. Loved it until it hit 180k miles and then had a ton of issues.

In December I drove the new F150, GMC, Tundra, and Ram. It was no contest. Got the Ram Rebel with the Rebel 12 package. The tech in the Tundra was 2004. The GMC was the same. The Ram rode way better than the F150. The 3.5 eco is fast but that's not why I needed a truck. HEMI FTW!

I don't need a vehicle to last decades. 5-8 years and I'll be on to something else.

BTW people here give Dodge so much crap about their ancient cars and engines... Toyota is EXACTLY the same. The new 4Runner is using a frame and engine first released in 2003 model year. The Tundra body, frame, and engine is from 2007. The Hemi may be old (introduced in 2003 and updated in 2009) but you'd never know it sitting in the truck.

Reading the the OP, The Toyos are not for you. Move on to something else that suits your needs better.

People bitch about it a lot but I have no problems with it. Seems pretty seamless to me and mine is in and out of eco mode due to stop and go traffic in the morning. I have heard with exhaust it’s more noticeable sound wise but you can always over ride it if you want.

I second this, my wife and I were amazed at how comparable the ride quality and noise level is to our XC90. I also will mention mine has the air suspension and I wouldn’t have it any other way going forward.

I do the gear-/gear + on the steering wheel to toggle to 8th gear and then the MDS is shut off.
My truck roars like a beast with either the MDS on or off. I just think the MDS is stupid. I wanted a truck, not a Prius. lol

I didn't get air suspension. This is my first dodge product. I will see how reliable this one is before I start getting complicated options.

LMFAO
I'm one of those that bitch about it. I have an aftermarket exhaust, which is loud, so it's really noticeable. It's ****ing horrible with aftermarket exhaust.
When it was stock, I could live with it. I do over ride the MDS almost every single day. lol

Looks like I’m late to the party.

Enjoy your new truck; you won’t be disappointed.

BTW, many people don’t know that the ENTIRE rear window goes down on the CrewMax. Just in case you didn’t check that out already.

Oh.....and google “Tundra Beast Mode.”
