Yeah I don't think you'll blow the HG on the mustang like I actually did on my RS.
But I don't think it will stop it from throwing rods when tuned lol.

The RS head and mustang head are different.
There was always rumor that some RS's had incorrect head gaskets from the start. Matt Farrah sort of proved it when he posted pictures of his HG after getting it replaced and it was for an explorer.

I would keep the FIST. It seems like it fits your DD needs better then a S550 mustang would, I would also be surprised if the mustang is more fun to drive to be honest.
