Well, I have the pistons and crankshaft. Pistons will get sent out to Swaintech for some Gold Coat love for the piston tops. Rods and pins will hopefully show up next week.
Ordered the Manley 4.6 3V forged 8 bolt stock stroke crankshaft from MMR, hope that ships and arrives drama free.
Decided to have Danny order Manley turbo tuff I Beam rods and -6cc Wiseco pistons.
Because of the amount of time from ordering from CHP to dispute, it went to Danny's CC fraud department for resolution, could take up to 90 days to resolve.
Worst case could be I end up with a forged stroker SCAT crank, cast rods for a stock throw crank supposedly good for 500 HP and forged Probe pistons for a stock throw crank and $200 spent to balance nothing.
Still playing fiddly bits with my junk valve covers. Some awkward angles for painting so grabbed couple pieces of scrap lumber. Should be a easier paint job. I have the bottom of the covers sealed up.
Well, I had seen this part long ago and thought it would be a good idea to install if I ever installed a roll bar.
Missed one little detail in that it was for a 1.75 inch bar. The MM crossbar is 1.5.
So I had some sheet aluminum around and built a shim. It was installed good and tight, but decided to drill the mount and tap the bar so I could pin it for a little more security.
I had the bolts in and noticed one sticking up, WTF. I got one that was longer in the package and didn't notice. So out came the tap again and I tapped all the holes all the way through to make sure none of the others were bottoming out.
I have extra of the SFI bar foam left, so I will rig something on the brace that touches the seat.
Got my covers back from the sand blaster. Did a good job, but decided to help me by removing my masking job. He looked surprised when I gasped at seeing the mask gone. Oh well, what's another hour or 2 to remask? Have one etched/clean and one to go.
Never throw old sheets away Use them in the Fall to cover plants from early frost.
Applied 3 light coats of adhesion promoter and chrome per directions. The nooks and crannies got some special attention. Will let that dry and then apply the dark chrome tint.
Decided to go with a DOB kit not final assembled to make it easier for Danny at DB Performance to port match to the Foxlake heads.
A big thank you to Nick at American Racing Headers for giving me a great deal on the 1 7/8 inch headers with 3.5 inch collector. Also got the matching 3.5 input with 3 inch output X pipe.
Got my heads back from Fox Lake. Of course it couldn't be a 100% smooth deal. Heard a metallic thud when the UPS guy set the box down. Mostly cosmetic, but might have to smooth it a touch with a file.
This build is fighting me all the way. But, when you make an omelet, gonna be some mess I guess!
Decided to order Deatchwerks 1500 CC injectors over the ID1700 injector.
Still waiting on the Wiseco pistons. Have to have all machine work done and short block assembled with the rings file fit. Have to then disassemble short block and send everything but the crank and block to microblue. Crank was sent to microblue and has come back. Satisfied with work they did. The long block can then be assembled and blower fitted.
I am sending the followers to microblue. New heavy duty FRPP followers from Ford still not available, damnit. Still have time, but wish they would hit the market.
Blower needs to be port matched to the heads yet.
ARH headers probably still a month out at least.
Kicking around the idea of getting an SFI TR6060 trans bell.
