Pistons showed up and got them on the way to Swaintech for gold coat crown coating. Headers are already there waiting their turn.

CHP has still not made DB Performance whole with the rotating assembly I had them order. I can't, in good conscience leave them holding my $2,800 bag of shit parts. This whole very unfun ordeal is causing me to think about parking all the parts until I have some enthusiasm to continue. Building should be fun and this has not been fun.

Swaintech did a nice job coating the piston crowns.

Decided stock valve followers were just not gonna work for me. Hardest money I ever spent on a part. There is just no good Jesel 3V data. The only info I really had was talking to a few guys who had and would never go back to a stock follower.

I'm excited (and stressed) by my 5.3 project but I now feel very "ghetto" compared to what you have going on! It's impressive!!!

Well, engine guy finally getting to my engine. Of course the main bearings were a little snug so new ones on the way. Once it comes together, back apart it comes and off to microblue. So glad I am building this as a long block swap and can still enjoy my car. I will miss that turbo surge.

Short block assembled with all tolerances set, and then disassembled. Pistons, rings, rods and all bearings on the way to microblue.

Definitely looks like the engine swap will happen over the winter. What a slow motion build. Feels like I have been pushing this uphill for a while. At least all the drama with the bad engine and rotating assembly from CHP fiasco is behind me. Knock on wood!

I am ready to see what the long block with 3.4 whipple sitting on top looks like!!!

Decided I can't wear an old dress to a whipple party!! Used to be shiny outside, now sporting a darker look. Picked up the dark stars when BEEFCAKE had his liquidation sale on this style wheel (17x7 and 18x10.5). Nice to finally get them on the car.Picked up new vents from a member on here and painted.

Coast High Performance has finally made good on the rotating assembly I ordered back on 9 Nov 2015 that was supposed to take 2 to 3 weeks to get.

Some progress. Shortblock is together. Like a dummy, I forgot to ask Danny to put an inch pound torgue wrench on and spin the shortblock over before they sent everything to Microblue, to do a before and after test. I did ask the tech and he smiled and said, ya know, it did spin over easier after we put it back together again. Take it for what it's worth, LOL, I just want the engine to stay together.

Mocking up continues. Knock bosses have to be removed for this kit.

Hmmm...can't shove it over, frame rail issues on other side. May pick up a flaming river steering shaft and dimple as required.

Danny asked me to come down and discuss some fiddly bits fitting and routing issues.

One piece of good news is that my hood will close with my standard BMR K member.

As Jason surmised, standard mounting my heat exchanger with modified fittings has interference with the bumper horn. Moved straight down so fittings will clear.

Also, they did not like, nor I, the routing of the lines to back of car. Going to bring the lines inside the car.

The headers fit super snug to bottom of the car, which I like. A little concern the O2 sensor bungs are tipped a little high, but should be able to squeak by.
