Todd My money says Your going to run your fastest in 5TH Gear. That thing just doesen't have the Horsepower to pull 6th gear. Get it as low as you can and I would take the rear spoiler off of it. Pull most of the camber out of it and toe it out a /16th, put about 35Lbs of air in the tires roll the windows up and if you can hit a little over 150 I think your going to proud. Doc was close, we had a really good 331, A 5 speed with a .62 5Th gear and a 3.64 gear in a 65 Shelby at Daytona with the grill, brake ducts and hood seams taped off. We spaced the hood up in the rear at the hinges to help the air out and drilled a few Xtra holes in the rear glass and spaced the tailights out and removed the gas cap ( it wasn't hooked to anything due to the fuel cell ) to let air out of the trunk and with a GPS we ran 181 right before the start finish line. Best I can remember we were turning about 8200 Rpm's :rolling:

The Texas Mile was this weekend and Cobra R #77 ran a couple 158.0’s. We were fighting clutch adjustment issues so we ended up not removing the spoiler and mirrors as planned. I was also running old 2007 Grand Am Cup tires so traction was a challenge.

Nice Todd. Better than I expected. Was that in 5th gear? Did you tape the front end?

Tom, I shifted to 6th at about 138/140. I think I was at about 4800rpm at the mile and seamed to be still pulling strong. I taped up the brake intakes and headlight area.

For comparison sake. Stock 2013 Boss runs about 158 and GT500 is about 165. Of course both of those cars make significant gains with a simple tune.

There were two stock 2013 GT500's that ran their best speeds of 164 and 166. I have to wonder how "stock" the others were since there was a clear 10mph jump in their speeds. I think there is a better chance than not that they were running an aftermarket tune.

Wasnt this years TX Mile event but the last year sometime. There is a video of one of them on youtube. Actually thinking back it may have been just one car and multiple videos of his car.

Heres one video of it.

Shhhh, that car is a beast. He is making over 700rwhp.

Here are the top runs for the five 2013 GT500's at the March event.

Car# Model Mile Speed Half Mile Speed

72 GT500 193.6 164.0
637 GT500 177.8 147.2
46 GT500 176.9 151.0
97 GT500 166.1 150.9
662 GT500 164.8 142.7

Nitrous SSC, I was shifting around 5600-5800. I'm sure there are gains to be made by adjusting my launch and shift points. I had to tip toe a little because I was having issues with the clutch slipping.

Ya he ran 193.6 with over 700rwhp a week ago. That was his time from last October when he ran stock.

Shhhh, he said in Oct his car only had a K&N. If that is true those 2013 GT500 guys running in the mid-160’s might want to check for the proverbial banana in the tailpipe. That or K&N needs to jump on that. “Get 8-10mph gains in the standing mile with K&N.”

Awesome videos Todd. Your car sounds great! Are you running the Flowmasters we talked about a month or so ago? How was the fit? Do the polished stainless tail pipes look close to the factory style?
Thanks

Brian, the exhaust is stock Cobra R headers, Bassani Off Road X-Pipe, and Flowmaster Full Stainless Steel Catback (p/n 817121). I am pretty happy with the catback. It fits nicely with no interference with the fuel cell. The tailpipes are very close to the factory style.

Cool! Thanks for posting the vids.

How many runs did you get to make?

I talked to some of the guys and they were going to TWS for Track Guys this weekend. Ugh....I really wanted to go this year.

Man, thats awesome.....Well, I was close with my 150 estimate ( damn lucky guess ) That's really hauling the Mail when you consider the Boss 302 wasn't any faster. What are the ratios of the 5th and 6th gear in that Trans Todd.

Tom, I made 7 runs in two days. I could have run at least one more each day had I jumped back in line.

Gary, my OD gearing is: 5th/.80 and 6th/.62
