Ok guys so my transmission is broken and I just got a quote from the t45 source(zak). I was quoted 1518 for shipping and a complete street strip build. I wanted to know what would you guys do? T56 swap or have the t45 rebuilt?

That is a cheaper quote than I had for my street strip rebuild... I have no experience with a T56, but I am pleased with my rebuild T45.

T56. I had Hanlon build my T45 and ended up taking it out and putting a T56 in down the road. 4.10s with the 5 speed was really annoying.

Another option is a fully built 3650. Zak built me a badass tr3650 last year and it's been holding 700whp for a year now. Shifts amazing and the internals of a 3650 are beefer then a t45. Only mod to make work on a 96-98 cobra is drilling and moving the trans mount a little and buying a speedcal.

I think a T56 has a better reputation: if you ever sold you car I think the T56 would make it more valuable.

That said, I wouldn't trade my T45Source- built trans for a T56 (Okay, maybe a T56 Magnum). My trans has their CNC 1/2 and 3/4 shift forks, a 26 spline upgrade, carbon synchros, their "proprietary shift mod". I beat on my car really hard when I get it out, and this trans has not let me down yet.

It's a tough call. If you're going to keep the car a while, then you really can't beat a T45 source trans. If you're going to sell in the near future, I'd probably T56 swap it just because you'll get more when you sell the car.
