ok our cars have a
.80 5th
.62 6th ...right ?

they make a kit that makes it
.74 5th
.50 6th

i'am trying to get a price on the OD kit.
with no luck!

also i heard they got a 1st though 4 th gear conv. kit for or trans. too. but has the 2.97 1st gear, and will need lots of parts parts total for the conv is 800 bucks

anyone know of the aftermarket ford trans witht he 2.97 1st gear? and what OD does it have. what does it cost ? link links it these trans or OD kits?

I have the aftermarket ford T56 with the 2.97 first gear. The overdrive gears are the same among all the Ford T56's. The .72 and .50 gears are from the Fbody T56's and the Viper. I think possibly the Vette as well.

I bought the .74/.50 kit and it was between 500-600 dollars. Why would you want a 2.97 first gear? Our cars already are traction challenged already.

cause i want to run some 3.08s .with the .50 OD too.
that way with the 2.97 it wont lug as much from take off. and have a 1.30 final drive i think. i dont have my #s in front of my now.

im trying to have a 600 rwhp cobra ,that gets 30 plus mpg on the highway.

2.73s will lug with even a 2.97 first gear ratio.

thanks every one btw.

Hi Carlos will you be at Willow Springs 8/9?

Doesn't look like I'll be able to.
Do you know anybody who runs a Viper spec T-56 open tracking?
Just curious about +, -'s.
Jeff

I'll be there. I'm helping out organizing the event. I'll also will be one of the instructors. I'm running a viper5/6th gear with a 4.10 rear gear. On the front straight i've hit as high as 141mph 5600rpm in 5th which is almost at my power peak. It would be a different story if i had the stock 3.55's. Basically i am about one gear high with the 4.10's compared to the 3.55's. Where you would really push the car with the 3.55's it's alot easier with the 4.10's. With the 3.55's you are in 3rd and 4th longer, now i am only in 5th longer.

Sorry but that's not possibly. With 3.08's at 70mph you're only at 1400rpms, with 3.55's at 70 you're at 1600rpms, with 4.10's you're at a little less then 1900rpms. Ours cars don't have enough torque down low at partial throttle to be able to run a gear that low without our cars getting into boost when a slight load is present like a slight grade, passing a slower car etc. Our cars would need more aero, less weight, less rolling resistance to get better mileage. You could add aero like underbody panels, diffuser, vortex generators etc. Less weight like rear seat delete, smaller battery, coil-overs etc. To reduce rolling resistance like lighter wheels, smaller tires(un-likely with your power levels). I'm sure there are several things i am forgetting.

The problem is, if you use the gear ratios that come with the 2.97 first gear, you won't get an actual .72 and .50 using those OD gears. If using a 2.97 trans and you swap in the .72 and .50 gears, you will actually net a .863 5th gear and a .567 6th gear. So, keep that in mind when trying to figure your RPM's.
