I am installing a new RST Clutch with the Tremec Magnum XL in a 2006 GT

I have a new SPEC aluminum flywheel insert. D and D said I could use this flywheel with the RST as I already had the flywheel and I am going to an 8 bolt in the winter.

The clutch disc that is on the flywheel side in hanging over the inside of the flywheel surface by a little less than an 1/8 of an inch.

I am guessing this is ok, but I wanted to make sure. The difference between the the clutch disc inside diameter and the flywheel diameter is just under a 1/4".

I do not want to put this car together and have it come apart again because the disc can not hang over the inside.

Thanks!

Personally, I'd just buy the proper flywheel. Some people run a flywheel with that overhang and don't seem to have a problem. I'd call McLeod and ask for their opinion.

I spoke with 3 tranny specialists and all 3 said that the 3/16 of an inch overhang is ok on the inside. When we convert this car the an 8 Bolt crank we will put in a new McLeod flywheel and inner clutch disc.

Any opinions on the RST vs RXT for a 2012 Boss 302 that's stock and will never see FI. I take it to the track (road courses) 6-8 times a year. It seems the RXT is overkill but I'd like to get other opinions.

The RST has no drivablity advantage over the RXT. The only difference is that the RST hold less power/heat and costs a little less.

Like Travis mentioned above both the RST and RXT drive great. So it really comes down to what you'll be using the clutch for. Since you will be using the car on the road course I'm going to recommend you go with the RXT. That's because the RST organic material doesn't like to get real hot. In a road course scenario you'll definitely be creating a lot of heat. So the ceramic material that they use on the RXT will be much better suited for that type of application.

If you have any other questions or need assistance placing an order please feel free to give us a call.

Thanks, Jared

Also installed an RXT (from Lethal) a few weeks back and it's got BITE!! Still in the break-in period but also much lighter than the stock pedal pressure. I just removed the pedal assist spring to make it more "normal".

Mine has also been in for a couple of weeks and one track day. So far it's very grabby but is getting better. I also removed my spring because with the new clutch installed my pedal still stuck to the floor. So the clutch is not the answer for that issue. Good news I had no shifting lock out. I'll be at Sonoma this Saturday and the last time I was there I had a lot of lock out issues. Stay tuned.

Hello, I'm about to have my RXT clutch installed along with McLeods lightened steel flywheel. My question is will I need new bolts or can I reuse the factory ones with a little loctite.?
Is everyone's pedal engagement higher then stock?
Thanks Shawn

:D Well I had the RXT installed along with the new steel flywheel.

As mentioned I had to get to dealer and have Crankshaft sensor recalibrated,

I have about 300 miles on the clutch and I must say, I am liking it

The clutch engagement is definitely higher and that's about the only negative in my opinion.
It starts to grab slightly at about 2 inches from floor, but doesn't completely engage till about 3/4 the way up on full clutch release.

Its kind of embarrassing at red lights trying to relearn take off.

I installed the RST and I like it too. Pedal effort is lighter than stock but it does catch much higher than stock too. The install went very smooth and McLeod provided all fasteners except the flywheel to crankshaft bolts. I went with the ARP high strength 12 point bolts that are made specifically for the Coyote/Road Runner engines. ARP fasteners are cheap insurance for any critical application. Installed the CJ Pulse ring and new crankshaft position sensor with o ring while I was in there as well.
Had to drop the car off yesterday for the misfire correction neutral relearn procedure.
