Now We’re Kookin’

Followers of our 2015 Mustang GT project vehicle, Project Triple Threat, know that our last installment documented the installation of a Whipple 2.9-liter supercharger. The next step was to install a preliminary tune and log the results before moving on with another phase of the project.

We headed over to Fort Mill, South Carolina, to Pro Dyno to strap the car to the rollers and see what it would turn out. Since we were already at Pro Dyno we decided to have a little more fun, so we called up Kooks Exhaust and ordered up its full off-road exhaust system for the 2015 Mustang.

Like all Kooks systems, this one is constructed of premium quality, 304 stainless. The joints are all expertly welded and the headers feature thick flanges along with scavenging spikes inside the 3-inch collectors. If you have any doubts about how much of a change in attitude this kit creates, just listen to the stock exhaust note and that of the Kooks…

With absolutely no changes to the prototype tune to take advantage of freer-flowing Kooks exhaust, we put down over 630 horsepower and 489 lb-ft of torque.

Stay tuned for the next installment of Project Triple Threat as it heads to Livernois Motorsports for a custom tune that maximizes this new combo.

To maximize the performance of Project Triple Threat we made the trip to Pro Dyno for the installation and testing of a complete Kooks exhaust system.
