It's a Mustang Week tradition. Car Show participates show up 4 hours earlier than they're supposed to, the staff tries to turn them away while they set up for the event, a few sneak in, the flood gates open, wax and polishing commence, and we all endure the South Carolina July heat. This year was a bit different though. For the first time the Mustang Week crowd appeared to be getting to large for the Myrtle Beach Mall, and that's a good thing.
Cars were spilling over into other parking lots, and some were even making their own spaces in the grass. To say that Mustang Week has grown since SVTP started sponsoring it would be an understatement, it has exploded. The numbers and quality of cars present seems to increase at an astronomical rate. At the SVTP booth we were so busy that I wasn't able to get out and check out the show field.It was great meeting SVTP members as they came up to talk to us. If you ever make it to Mustang Week, be sure to stop by the SVTP booth.
As mentioned earlier, the day starts with feverish preparation. Owners are trying to remove those last few remnants of bug guts and road grime in preparation for judging. With 600 cars in the show the judges have to work at a substantial pace to get through them all, but by about 4:00pm their task is complete and cars start to trickle out. Participates head off to find some Myrtle Beach Friday festivities, and sponsors begin closing up shop.
