X4 bought new, only ever used on my truck.

If I use the return to stock option does it use up one of the unlocks or does it have to actually write a tune to a second vehicle before it uses one? Chasing some BS that I think is the tune and with what I've done the stock tune won't hurt anything.

Reloading the stock file from the SCT X4 to your car will have no effect on the vehicle count. You have to have a different VIN number to cause that to happen.

In fact, SCT recommends you reload the stock file in the car before you upgrade the firmware on the X4.

Now whether you should upgrade the firmware is a totally separate discussion...

thanks, that's kinda what i figured but wanted to make sure. My handheld is from 2019, was debating doing the updates while the truck was back to stock to try and isolate a tune issue.
