I am in the middle of oil pump gears, and I am stuck. The crank pulley will not come off. I have the bolt out, but I cannot get the damn pulley off. I have a 3 jaw puller on per the service manual but it won't come off. When I tighten the puller, eventually the crank start turning, any suggestions?

Try and put some lube on the tip of the stud that is pressing on the crank. Might help it slide more.

Also, put as much tension as you can on the pulley (right to the point you're spinning the crank) and use a rubber mallet and tap at various places on the puller or pulley.

Ya, normally they will come right off, but this does happen.

Is the damper attached to the pulley; one unit?

You can hit it pretty hard without damaging anything. Using a deadblow or rubber mallet is needed though, or you can ding the pulley.

You can also use wood and tap that with a regular hammer.

You basically just need to "break the seal". You can even try tapping it back towards the engine; as soon as it starts moving you should be good to go. If you do that, do it lightly though.

Upload a pic of the puller setup you have if you can.

Try putting lube on the front of the stud that's pushing on the crank; usually gets it.

Still no luck, here is a picture of the puller, I know this isn't how it is supposed to be set up but it is the only way I could get it to fit inside.

Is the socket on the crank end of the puller small enough to fit inside the pulley?

If it's too big, you are just working against yourself.

I know seems obvious, but double check.

Looks like you are trying to muscle it with a ratchet.

Do you have access to an impact?

you could also try a 3 foot pry bar leveraged against the pulley (with a rag wrapped around the pulley) to keep to from spinning.

I will try both the torch and the pry bar. With the pry bar, you mean put it between the timing cover and the crank pulley?
