Most of you guys are idiots. Peak power does not mean shit.

Look at the stock dyno graphs. When the z06 shifts he loses like 10-20 HP off of peak. When the GT shifts he's losing like 60-70. Thats a huge difference. Factor in the 250lb difference, the mods the z06 has and the power curve the z06 could definatly pull away like that.

Losing power in the shifts means very little in a street race because not everyone powershifts their cars. Given equal drivers the argument would be futile, but I do agree about peak power.

Weight took the win here.

theres some real rocket scientists lurking on this thread...i read the GT drivers response to the race and he said the Z was the stronger car because it pulled BEFORE shifts...that Z put down 488whp, and that GT put down 499whp, BUT(get ready) the Z weighs 350lbs less  ..thats a huge difference..bottomline: the Z needs very little mods to own a ford gt because of the weight difference..why cant you ppl understand that weight is just as important as power

How do you figure that it means very little? It pretty much shows that everytime they shift gears and drop down into a lower RPM the z06 is producing basically the same power it is making at redline, while the GT is not producing nearly the same power its making at redline.

You said something about powershifting. Not powershifting would make even a greater difference. If you're not powershifting the RPM's are going to drop lower when you shift, therefore the lower RPM's the car is making less power. The whole point is that the z06 makes the exact same amount of power at 5500 rpms as it does at redline (7000). It never misses a beat; its not the case in the ford GT.
